Steve Wigan

Player Valuation: £35m
Today I had two visitors from Australia...Aussie born Australians whom I first met 15 years ago. They are big football and Rugby League fans and after they had bought me lunch they asked if they could see the outside of the DW Stadium, just for a photo. They have already been on the Analfield and Goodison tours, and Wigan don't 'do' tours as such. Being a cheeky sod I went to reception and asked if it would be possible 'just to have a quick look at the pitch'. One of the two receptionists said that there was no one available so she would 'show us herself'. We were given an unofficial full tour...up the tunnel onto the pitch, the superb changing rooms, the chairmans lounge('I'll just make sure he's not in first'), the trophy cabinet with their replica FA Cup, and Rugby League Cups, and the magnificent display of photographs etc. Altogether around an hour with time and permission to take as many photos as we needed. Everything was immaculate and the staff were very friendly and chatty. Apparently Dave Whelan is still at the ground most days and when I pointed out a photo of Roberto with the FA Cup the receptionist said ' ahh..my beautiful little man,,,everyone here loves him, and he's such a clever man'(!!) I cannot praise everyone at the DW Stadium enough...they created a great surprise tour for two visitors from Australia on the spare of the moment.

Well in pie eaters, take 'em to leigh sports village the trophies are at the reception, taking my lad down cos he wants a pic with them

although only from championship obviously

Great stuff mert!

Nah seriously though that sort of thing is someone you'll only get at local clubs etc who actually care about their paying public.

It was beyond that..we're not their paying public...I've only ever been to a couple of functions there, never a football or rugby match, and my guests had never even been to Wigan before today. Left a good impression to take back to Oz with them !!
