Reading through the thread one thing jumps out: that our tactics were pretty hopeless on the day and Martinez got the drop on his opposite number who then had to fight fires all day. Hats off to him because he exploited our frailties well.

One other point - the Heitinga screw up for the second Wigan goal: now we all love Baines and his attacking play, but that really does place pressure on the left sided CB to get us out of jail when Baines struggles to respond to a swift counter attack. Distin has had the LCB shirt and would maybe have done a better job in that situation, but that's a constant gamble we take with our over-emphasis on that left flank attack. Dont think I've seen Baines' name mentioned though in the blame game over goal two yesterday.

The space exposed behind our full backs was a tactical weakness, seems very harsh to blame the player for that. Perhaps you could argue that Baines was at fault for giving away the ball in the Wigan box right before that second goal, heh? But I can't see that we were undermanned defensively when Kone got the ball and broke away. Johnny was surely outpaced but had one of our midfielders picked up Di Santo moving into the box there would probably not have been a goal for them.

Reading striker Jason Roberts on 5 live Sport after Saturday's 2-2 draw against Everton: "At any time in a game when you're 2-0 up you expect to go on and win it. But they performed really well and in the end the draw was fair."

How stupid can 1 man be.

Tbf if you're a neutral you're not really gonna give a **** about Wigan Everton.

I always think we look shakier without Distin. Jags and Heitinga only seems to work better with Gibson in front of them, but they need to be ala Stubbs and Weir! Little pace, but did a god job.
What Gibson does is prevent attacks in the first place! Prevention. However, our 'cure' is not reliable enough.

Wigans 3-4-3 was always going to cause issues. It does against all the Prem teams, but you have to defend well. Sure, blame the ref for the decisions at the top end and missing an offside goal, but the ref isnt in our back 4 and to blame for us being a bit wobbly at the back.

Otherwise, not the end of the season. End of the world due in December.

I think the thing this game showed more than anything else, was that Distin is our best Centre back and it should be him and Jagielka starting every game.

Yup. I would say the last game proved it and that we got away with it in others. Not bashing our forward play at all, we look great. The back 4 is not solid enough at the moment.

This is the most puzzling thing, that same back four (minus coleman) have pretty reliable for the last few seasons. I think they're becoming lazy for some reason.

I think Distin is our best centre back, he is just a man mountain and still has pace.

They did their homework on fellaini and new we would be pumping the ball up to him for him to take on his chest. all teams will be on to this now. they had two on him and took the ball of him quite easily. i kept saying we need to change tactics but it didnt look like we new how to in the first half.there was still some noce football. credit to moyes he changed the shape of the team in the second half and i think we should have won the game. we are a team that is getting better and playing exciting football more and more during games. we are not going to win every game and we are going to drop points at grounds we think we shouldn't. we are a work in progress and getting quite good at the high tempo passing game and will get better and better as long as we stick to it. one step at a time.

I'd imagine that's actually about Swansea Reading and it's the writer's mistake.

Personally, apart from being out paced, Heitinga did get back in, put an foot in and pushed Koné away from goal.

It's a shame that Neville and everyone else just switched off and ball watched. It's utterly criminal what Neville did for that 2nd goal. Either track a runner or go and help Heitinga out. Don't just stand there like a pleb.

Only caught the last half hour but we were dominating the 2nd half, that ref was a total.... yeah... It's only one game I suppose, still plenty more to go.

Everyone drops points away from home... City utd arse Chelsea... They all do and we're no different. As long as its not happening on a regular basis it's all part of the course.

Not to mention were not as strong as the above squads and we all know we need more players yet in January, it's just one of them things!

We are fighting back in to games and that's a massive plus as it shows a bit of belief in self...that'll do for me at this point in the season.

This, this time last season we lose that game showing no fight. We didn't play superb and still deserved 3 points. Any point away from home is a good one.

We haev lost just 5 premier league games in 2012, Arsenal at home, liverpool away, spurs away, bolton at home and WBA away.
