The Blackpool method you mean? Not for me. You can do both as we've enough attacking talent.

We dropped Felli deeper in the 2nd half and it shut up shop for the most part but we didn't lose our attacking threat.

It drives me mad that Coleman and Neville keep getting caught so far up field. If Baines has gone forward, which he invariably has, the other fullback should be staying back. And Pip can't sprint back with someone, so he should be sitting infront of the centrebacks facing play and trying to hold up any of their midfield runners. It doesn't help that Osman gets forward at any opportunity and leaves him to it, but Nev should be disciplined enough to protect his centrebacks.

I agree. This has to be Neville's last season as a starting player and Osman is never a midfield anchor. We're not defending as a unit or a team and we seem to be repeating the same mistakes week in week out. Maybe we're over-confident about our goalscoring ability and we think that we can win games even if we don't defend well? We need a settled partnership at centreback, Coleman needs more support, the anchors really need to get a grip and Moyes should be adjusting Fellaini's position depending on whether we're attacking or trying to see a game out.

Fellaini should always play in front of the back four when Gibson isn't available. Okay he can do a job up top sometimes but today he looked ragged behind Jelavic and had a much better second half when he moved to his BEST POSITION.

meh.... a decent away point in a game that could have gone either way but in which we were the better team overall. 2 clear penalties denied and their first goal was offside.

The positive attcking approach which is characterising this season remains and that is pleasing.

Only 3rd in the league tonight and maybe down to 4th tomorrow. Shocking...

When things aren't going his way he starts getting petulant. Teams have seen the problems he's been causing further up and will hustle him more. The refs will generally blow in favour of a defender in those 50-50 challenges and more so with someone like Fellaini. We definitely improved with the reshuffle. More control dfensively and looked more like causing problems upfront with Mirallas behind Jelavic. Kudos to Moyes for spotting this and adjusting.
This is the type of game we'd have lost last season so I'm not to disappointed.

Nah, don't buy it. I see no reason why we can't play good football and still not concede crap goals. We were second best to every ball today and that has nothing to do with our attacking style. If we're saying we can't be tight defensively without Gibson then we might as well call it a day now.

I don't want to see us concede crap goals like, just accept we will let more in as a result of the way we play. We can do things better of course.

Without Gibson, and Fellaini being further up the field, we will struggle to be as tight. You and me both know the answer to where Fellaini should be long term (y)

ye poor players win 59 international caps for england and over 500 premiership games for two of english best clubs

Del Piero's currently playing for Sydney in the A League and has won far more trophies and accolades, do you want us to sign him up and praise him too lad?

Fellaini is fuvking ****e. Narky, lazy, whiny snide

A wider audience may have been alerted to Fellaini's talents after he bullied United into submission on Monday but Everton regulars will tell you he has been performing to such levels for the past year, most notably when dominating a spectacular game at Old Trafford which ended 4-4 in April.

His statistics from last season merely add weight to how much of an influence he has been. No Everton player covered more distance than the 209.63 kilometres Fellaini pounded between August and May.

No Everton player completed more passes (821) or made more tackles (87).

Don't be stupid.

Im also one of those who think Fellaini should play as a CM. He is way more influential when he can cover the entire pitch and not focus on one area only. And he's algo gotten a little lazy playing behind Jelavic IMHO.

Moyes should let Osman play at ACM at least until someone else steps up for that position (Naismith, Barkley) or we sign a true #10 like Holtby or another winger to allow Pienaar or Mirallas to play behind Jelavic.

bit of credit where due, Moyes got it right and rang the changes early.

Heitinga was getting murdered and has shown an alarming lack of pace in the last 2 games, he's lost the proverbial yard, but for me the Jags / Heitinga partnership has never worked. I didn't think Jags has looked particularly quick of late either. Half time Heitinga off - good move.

Felliani - yard-dog defenders like Caudwell niggle and goad Felliani, do everything they can to put him off his game, which includes bouncing off him, sly digs and general irritation. Olson did the same for WBA. At least this time Moyes got it right by dragging Felliani out of there, sitting him as a DCM where IMO he was still effective and gave us a DCM which until that point had been virtually invisible.

We all know that the Neville and Osman combo in CM is simply not good enough but we have tried to play around them. This didn't happen today. Last week we got away with it because we were bombing down both wings. Neville's one saving grace was that he would (legally) crunch one or two in a game, he's too slow to get to them now.

I thought Coleman was poor today. He should have skinned a ****house like Beausejour all day long but instead struggled and I can't understand why.

Finally - I thought the ref had a shocker and it's getting tiring how many poor refereeing decisions are costing us. We must have one of the highest fouls against / fouls committed ratios in the league.

It depends. He can be boss wherever he plays. Without Gibson and with the Coleman/empty space or Coleman/Mirallas set up on the right we probably need him at DM. He seemed lazy today with those attempted flicks he tried with his feet just like in the WB match. Hopefully him taking every 3rd match off isn't a trend.

could it be that it's the forthcoming international break that's the coincidence ? If so maybe his mind is elsewhere.

I thought Felliani had a decent game .. had it not been for a **** referee who was 'exploited' by a bunch defenders of no-mark defenders we'd have won that as Wigan would have been lucky to keep those ****houses on the pitch. When Felliani moved back they ganged-up on Jellavic then.

I couldn't help thinking throughout that wouldn't it have been nice to have big Dunc playing just to knock **** out of Cauldwell, Ramis and Figueroa.

Fellaini has only been moved forward as a cunning ploy by Moyes to keep Neville and Osman on the pitch.

Moyes should let Osman sit on the bench.
