Generally I think Wigan sussed us out. They shut down our LHS in the first half and ragetted the RHS, i.e. stopped our biggest threat and attacked our biggest weakness. It was noticable how they switched the play at every opportunity.

Mirallas was almost non-existant in the first half and I don't think he touched the ball in the first 15 minutes. Better up front in the second half.

We got better in the second half because of the manager's tactics. Furthermore Ossie made a difference in front of Seamus (who was still awful).

Howard - 7 No blame for either goal
Coleman - 6 Still learning, still early days, work in progress
Heitinga - 4 Just doesnt look interested for me, a shadow of last Season atm
Jagielka - 6 Chasing shadows at times
Baines - 10 Superb, utterly superb
Osman - 4 Was he playing?
Neville - 5 Meh
Mirallas - 7 Always busy
Pienaar - 8 The axis of sex on the left makes me happy
Fellaini - 6 Looked a bit sulky today, made a difference when moved back
Jelavic - 7 He slots, but cut that diving out lad, this is Everton

Distin - 7 Steadied the ship at the back
Anchiebe - 6 Never really got into the game
Naismith - 0 Daveks tip for the future

I agree with all of this.

5 for PN is too kind should have been subbed at half time with JH he was so poor -time to hang his boots up imo!

I'd give Jags a 7 though just for that tackle on Kone. Can't pass for toffee but the boy sure can make last ditch tackles

Stand on him...

The thing about playing Mirallas behind the striker is as soon as we did that today, it was painfully obvious that we would and will continue to go solely down the left. When Mirallas is on the right, it may not be his ideal position, but at least we have the option of attacking down that flank.

From what I saw he's hardly ever on the effing right even when he's meant to be there.

Bingo.

Seamus was all over the shop today. Nooooowhere near his man all day long. Very, very naive.

Hibbert is reknowned for beiong one of the best in one on one situations in the fullback area which is exactly where the goal came from.

But hey, let's carry on with your play the kids agenda - it really works well.

Yeah i remember Hibbert never slipping ever or letting the winger in behind him or being out of position, those things never happened, and most certainly never happened when his career as a right back in the Prem was in its infancy.

Oh no.

Of course if Coleman is still inexperienced defensively thats got nothing to do with the fact he spent the previous 2 years not playing there, he's w young inexperienced full back who needs to get actual game time there in order to help develop him as one.

Of course the fact he lost his footing and a guy crossed the ball to an attacker in an offside position with no defender near him anyway means he was awful.

Yep.
