Player Valuation: £35m
I don't think there will be anymore signings or loan deals unless one of two things happen. A player becomes available at what is considered a bargain price or two good an opportunity to turn down, or unless gravesen goes - and then we could see perhaps another loan signing.
The reasons?
Moyes has always been reluctant to pay the steeper prices normally required in January. Also, this season, team morale and spirit is at an all time high - Moyes does not want to dilute this effect by bringing in new players that could change the team dynamic. This is one of the reasons that the manny deal was so convenient - there was little danger to team spirit as everyone in the dressing room was already familiar with Manny, they were friends.
So the possibility of Van Buyten or Arshavin look remote as results have been good as it is - why rock the boat?
Both Van Buyten and Arshavin could represent good buys - Van Buyten as a top class defender with a lot of height and european experience - seemingly available at a cut price fee and Arshavin (their season as we know is over, so he's available, but they won't let him go without a fight), a midfielder with an eye for a goal who is versatile enough to play as a second striker and a winger (i.e a faddy replacement plus).
I just can't see Moyes spending the money, as beyond the ability levels of players, football is a game won as a team, normally the team with the greatest morale and spirit.
Why risk it by bringing in someone midseason, that ruins that feeling?
