Why there won't be anymore signings

Player Valuation: £35m
I don't think there will be anymore signings or loan deals unless one of two things happen. A player becomes available at what is considered a bargain price or two good an opportunity to turn down, or unless gravesen goes - and then we could see perhaps another loan signing.

The reasons?

Moyes has always been reluctant to pay the steeper prices normally required in January. Also, this season, team morale and spirit is at an all time high - Moyes does not want to dilute this effect by bringing in new players that could change the team dynamic. This is one of the reasons that the manny deal was so convenient - there was little danger to team spirit as everyone in the dressing room was already familiar with Manny, they were friends.

So the possibility of Van Buyten or Arshavin look remote as results have been good as it is - why rock the boat?

Both Van Buyten and Arshavin could represent good buys - Van Buyten as a top class defender with a lot of height and european experience - seemingly available at a cut price fee and Arshavin (their season as we know is over, so he's available, but they won't let him go without a fight), a midfielder with an eye for a goal who is versatile enough to play as a second striker and a winger (i.e a faddy replacement plus).

I just can't see Moyes spending the money, as beyond the ability levels of players, football is a game won as a team, normally the team with the greatest morale and spirit.

Why risk it by bringing in someone midseason, that ruins that feeling?

We've got decent cover in all positions. Moyes may be looking out for extra cover in certain positions like CB, but he can afford to wait to the summer. No, I think the big question is whether we can land someone who - like Yakubu - can improve the first XI. We have an outside chance of beating Liverpool to a top 4 place and CL football next season. But if we're going to compete for that, we may need to think big now. This is why the link with Arshavin is so exciting. He's the type of player who can give us something extra, make things happen. If he's available for under £10m we should get in there - even if it means going cap in hand to Mr Earl.

done. Sportsmans bet it is.

Although, I am far from certain there won't be any signings. I can just see the logic in Moyes not bothering.

no, but I don't consort with people who are prejudiced against wigan - or wiganists as I call them.

Call me a wigan lover like.

I have a feeling that we will, or at least are planning to - its never smooth with the Blues though is it.

I'll get excited when we get into "protracted semi-completed transfer - or has it gone through yet?- been no news for a few days" phase.

For that is the Everton Way

It reminds me of that joke?

What's black and blue and hates sex?

(god damn it, this was meant to be a serious thread)
