Why so poor away?

If I agreed with you, we’d both be wrong.
Nobody can complain about our results at home but has anyone got any ideas on why our away performances are so bad? This is not just a Silva issue it's been like this for a while, obviously home ground and home crowd gives an advantage, but we just go out and play rubbish football, last away game Villa were bad and still beat us 2-0. Just can't figure it out.

Our last ten PL away games has generated twelve points. Not brilliant obviously, but I'd imagine that sort of points return from away games wouldn't be too dissimilar from other teams that we're competing for Euro League places with?

....we’re certainly not up to speed this season, the first 10 games were always going to be difficult. It’s always good to get an early away win, hopefully it comes next time out.

Gbamin, Iwobi and Kean could be a key players, particularly counter-attacking away from home.

Think we are some way from peak fitting but we are getting there. Don't think much of Silvas pre seasons. Not enough tough games e.g RS played Napoli, city etc and look at peak fitness already. We finish last season swamping most teams we played with pace and power. Signs yesterday that all that is returning. We will see against Bournemouth. Hopefully pace and power and not side to side boring play like palace and villa

Mad that the European champions find it easier to get glamour friendlies than we do isn't it, just really doesn't make any sense at all. Silva out NSNO.

At home the crowd spur the team on,
Away the manager doesn’t seem to have the tactical ability to break teams down, although now picking the better striking options may do this.

We fought for the win yesterday after losing the 2nd goal, we don't do that with the same venom away.

Wolves are a good side but we are better and we made that tell.

If the fixture is reversed under the same circumstances then a lot of the time we are hanging on for dear life to get a point after it goes 2-2.

We have limitations but we should be going for the win with more determination against the bottom 10 sides in particular, the difference to our season in picking up an extra 3 or 4 wins away would be massive, and it could act as a catalyst to go a good run.

I don't really think our away performances are bad to be honest. For the first half of last season I thought we looked better away than at home, without necessarily getting the points our performances merited. I think we picked up 20 points on the road last year, and we got nothing in games at Anfield, Old Trafford and The Emirates when nobody could really have argued if we'd taken all 9 points. Ultimately we're just not that good that we can go away to good teams and win without being at our best. There was nothing really wrong with the way we played at Palace for example, it wasn't much different to the Watford game, but we couldn't finish it off. Same happened in many away games last year, we hit the post twice at Watford, twice at Brighton etc. Both losses, both could have been wins. Just a little bit more quality is what we're lacking.
