Looking at the team that finished last nights game:

Pickford - Walsh

Coleman - Moyes
Holgate - Martinez
Mina - Brands
Digne - Brands

Sidibe - Brands
Schneiderlin - Walsh
Delph - Brands
Davies - N/A

DCL - Walsh
Niasse - Martinez

The concern is that you can not pin any one purchaser of these players down to one era or manager/DOF - what we have is years of poor recruitment and a God awful mentality that runs throughout the club.

Depressing

For example after a meaningless win at home to Brighton after the capitulation v Lpool this forum was full of people praising
Ancelloti, Holgate, Mina, Digne, Bernard, DCL etc etc and claiming we are not far away.

This squad is a million miles off consistently challenging top 6, and need a miracle to challenge top 4.

Every week this club manages to find the way to embarrass its fan base. The whole playing staff need to go through some kind of physiological training weekend or something, because failure is ingrained in this club and it’s players and somehow it has become the norm. They can all play , they are all fit enough. The are just so mentally weak, and it’s easier for them to just plod along than to deal with deep seated physiological problem.

Mina and Pickford should feel as embarrassed as we do today and should be hiding from the other players at FF. Davies and Delph should be too. That was like a John Cleese training film version entitled "how to hang on to a Lead with 2 minutes left - or not".
We bossed the game for 93 minutes and then blew for 2. No other team does that!
Pickford needs to make a public apology - he is a liability. Its got nothing to do with being cursed or 'Everton That'. Everton That would stop tomorrow if our players had some quality and consistency.

But no other team of professional footballers would have done that last night mate.

1 minute to go and the following players instead of just running it into the corner flag / passing it around the back to kill the minute up kill us:

Niasse
Delph
Davies
Digne
Pickford (flapping)

Thats nearly half of the team not doing their job - thats just simply unacceptable for me and we need to make a stand now or we'll let it'll become a self fulfilling prophecy in the dressing room of "Everton that". We will forever be nothing more than a banter club.
What happened last night was incredible tbh. I was sat there thinking what a nice change this makes, controlling a game from first whistle to last. It was a really good performance until the 94th minute ffs, and then that.

Conceding that daft freekick just allowed them to give it the Hail Mary ball, and we tossed it up. Gutting given the way the game had gone, but it is what it is. The 3 hour drive home was an absolute joy.

I just dont get why they never from the kick off at 2-1 didnt just pass it straight back to the midfield, pass to Coleman or holgate, who passes to pickford who wellies it down the pitch for a throw in or goal kick in which time they do that the refs blown his whistle.

Im still seething now mate - its basic sunday league stuff that our idiot players seem incapable of doing.

Is right mate, it took some believing eh. Especially after the way we’d played, if we’d been meh and yet been 2-0 up, it might have stung less. But to have played that well, and to allow ourselves to be mugged off like that, takes some swallowing.

I hope Bruce bought a lottery ticket today btw, as they say it comes in 3’s and after they somehow spawned a win against Chelsea and then mugged us for a point last night, his stars are definitely currently aligned.

a good mentality starts from the top. If you don't demand greatness you are already at a loss. Good managers & players have drive & go the full 90 & don't have defeat in their minds. We have had good players but just fell a bit short a couple of times but if you look at the 80's how many times did we go to the well & dig out results because the players had that will & drive to win.
