The Latch for me! Absolutely idolised the big man, but I always liked Mick Buckley and Davey Thomas too, outside of Everton it was Cruyff and Eusabio! The first tine I saw Cruyff it was like an epiphany, and I liked Eusabio dos everyone else loved Pele.

Hmm, I guess my first was the mystical Golden Vision , but I never saw him play, so it would have to come from what is still a party piece recital of " Gordonwesttommyrightkeithnewtonhowardkendall,brianlabonecolinharveyjimmyhusbandalanball,joeyroylejohnjurstjohnnymorrisseyharrycatterick,Harry catterickharrycaterickharrycatterick etc". I loved the Holy Trinity, but those days I rolled my school shirts up above the elbow and did the same with my football shirt when I played. So when I realised Joe Royle did exactly the same when he played well there could be only one hero for me ...even if he did adopt my style
