Who and what should the blues be looking at?
koeman3-1024x461.jpg

With four of the PL top six contesting the FA Cup semi-finals, and Manchester United already the EFL Cup winner, seventh place will guarantee European football next season.

Everton, seven points clear of closest rivals West Brom, are in pole position to fill that slot.

With European football comes greater demands, least of all a large squad full of top quality - something the Blues are lacking at the moment.
Goalkeeper

England's No1, Joe Hart, has been linked with Everton ever since Pep Guardiola dumped the two time Premier League champion.

He is a top shot stopper but like most keepers, has his blood rush to the head moments. Certainly one Ronald Koeman could look at once his loan move at Torino has expired.

Two more English ‘keepers under the spotlight are Fraser Forster, a former player under Koeman at Southampton.

And then there's Jack Butland, a target whilst at Birmingham. The injury prone 23 year old has a massive future once he shakes off his fitness issues.
Left Back

Baines.jpg

Leighton Baines isn't getting any younger and niggling injuries over the past few seasons aren't a great sign for the England ace.

With no back up after Bryan Oviedo's exit and Brendan Galloway’s pointless benchwarming stint at The Hawthorns it’s time to think about the future.

Young Ben Chilwell of Leicester and Scotland international Andrew Robertson of Hull fit the bill.
Right Back

coleman.jpg

Seamus Coleman’s devastating broken leg leaves a monumental gap at right back. The club's youth system is filled with right backs so is it time to give Mason Holgate a run? Under 23 skipper

Jonjoe Kenny is a right full back, as well as loan trio Tyias Browning, Callum Connolly and Gethin Jones.

Is it time for the kids to step up and shine or do the blues have to invest?
Centre Half

Burnley’s Michael Keane has proved himself a real talent, recognised by him receiving his first England cap. The former Manchester United youngster is the perfect fit to replace an ageing Phil Jagielka.

Of course, the dream is Dutch international Virgil van Dijk, another former Koeman player. VvD is arguably the best centre back in the league so it would be a massive task to win him over any Champions League suitors.
Left Midfield

The left hand side has been a huge problem since Steven Pienaar's exit. The club haven't managed to find a replacement but it was never going to be easy.
Has anyone caught your eye who could do a job like the South African?

Competition for Ross Barkley’s place in the side is minimal if at all. This I feel, is a large contribution to inconsistent and poor spells that have plagued his Everton career so far.

Wayne Rooney is a name never too far away from Everton’s on the back pages.

Man United’s all time leading goalscorer’s time at Old Trafford is up and he is ready for one last hurrah.

The captain of England has looked a little stale over the past few seasons so maybe a change will lift him.

Gylfi Sigurdsson, the Premier League’s top assist maker - in a truly abysmal Swansea side - is the one Koeman surely has his eyes on.

A set piece specialist and eight league goals to his name this campaign, he's the perfect candidate, even maybe to fill that troublesome left hand side slot.
Striker

enner.jpg

Enner Valencia, Arouna Koné and youngsters Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman join Romelu Lukaku as the L4 striking power.

They may have 26 goals between them in the league but 21 have came from Lukaku. Not great, is it?

Finding a striker who can bag 15/20 goals a term as well as the big man is an enormous ask. The Toffees cannot rely on one man to score all their goals forever, and of course, he may be off sooner rather than later.

Anyone in particular you would want on Everton’s list of potential transfers?

We should be looking at 2 different angles going into the summer, now and the future. So as much as it is easy to just throw out a list of players we should be signing, and unrealistically be chasing, we should look at it the other angle.

So come the summer, sign like 8 players and revamp the squad massively but out of those 8, not 8 first team players but a mixture of young and ready. Throw a few of them in the reserves for a few months like Lewen if need be to grow them at the club but essentially look to end next season with 6-7 core players who are young and can develop alongside the ready players brought in like we did in jan with lookman and schneiderlin.

Joe Hart or Stephane Ruffier short term.
Left midfield should be either Inaki Williams if possible, if not demarai gray of Leicester.
Cant argue with chilwell or Robertson.

Striker could be a mix of any, Tavares of Dijon as back up (28), or do we gamble of another talent like domenico berardi. Personal choice would be Andre Silva of porto - but expensive.

A #10 please. Set them up for Rom and he'll knock em back.

Imagine how many goals that man would have if we had someone like, say, Fabregas in that role. NSNO.

GK. Hart or Butland
LB Robertson of Hull or Tierney from Celtic ( can play LB OR RB )
CB Keane or VVD (in an ideal world both )
LM GRAY
No 10 Mata /Siggy /Fabregas
No 9 Schurrie ( can play wide as well )
Out Steks Bescic Kone Naisse Lennon Mori McGeady Cleverly

While I agree we should be looking to the future , if we want to show the ambition that Rom is talking about we need to add 4/5 players who can go straight into the first team.
Now not all will get in straight away but they need to be up to first team standard from day one.
We have Barkley , Davies ,Rom , Holgate , Lookman , Galloway Browning Calvert Lewin plus others all under 23 and around the first team.
We need players in the peak or near the peak of their career to step in and compliment these players.

Aye, that is what i mean in terms of both the now and the future. So to use them as an example, we sign Tielmans who comes in as a young midfielder, but play him alongside witsel as the now player. I don't mean sign either of those but that is what i mean in terms of the future and now types of players. constantly develop the squad from the ground up so over the course of 9 months of a season and hopefully 3 cup competitions that you have enough players who can be the strongest 11, and ones who can force their way into the team, like Davies has done this season.

i think we have missed this for a long time, as long as i can remember in all honesty. When was the last time we have had a squad of players where you could look at them and pick out names who could force their way into the team? That is what i want at this club, i want a squad who can play their play into the first team at any point and be there on merit, not because we have no-one else. It would also be fantastic if some of those players were young and 5-6 years down the line were the first team being forced out by younger version so to speak.

GK - Pickford, Hart or Butland if we're buying British. Leno, Horn or Rui Patricio as maybe semi-realistic continental options
RB - Not sure we can take the gamble that Coleman's injury won't have complications nor do we know if he'll be the same player when he returns. I think his injury means we now need to look at bringing a right back in. I can't think of any obvious candidates in England currently. Karsdorp at Feyenoord seems primed for a move soon.
LB - We certainly need competition for Baines. Robertson, Chilwell, Tierney, or even Shaw (if Utd want to sell)
CB - Keane, Ben Gibson, VVD (unlikely) in the Premier League. Plenty of scope to look abroad here too.
CM - I expect McCarthy and Besic to leave, think we'll end up needing an extra body in this area. Tielemans has been linked and it's that sort of playmaking ability that our midfield energy of Gana, Davies and Schneiderlin doesn't have enough of.
LM - Don't think anyone has filled this role adequately. Lookman looks a good prospect though. Sigurdsson has been playing a lot here for Swansea since Clement came in, doing a similar role to the one Barkley does for us from the right. Not sure if two players drifting in would work?! I don't see any realistic prospects in England other than possibly Dermarai Gray. Zaha? Let's assume that Anthony Martial is unrealistic.
AM - Sigurdsson or Rooney
ST - Rooney and I think Koeman would love a big target man if he could find the right one.
