....they need to have played a league game for the first team, Raino. I’ll check, but we certainly have some of those.

...yep, I remember Sykes was tall and gangly. Rooney took that side to the final, he was such a talent. The Osman era was unique, full of players who made a good living out of the game, some at the very top level.

The Osman team was fantastic. I do sometimes wonder what would have happened had we kept Joe in charge, or better still got Johann Cruyff in charge to help develop the academy, with that team and Rooney following 4 years later.

6 lads made it, Jeffers, Cadamateri, Ball, Dunne, Osman and Hibbert. The former 3, for various reasons didn't fulfil potential. The captain of the team O'Brien (central midfield player) suffered a really bad injury. A young defender Adam Eaton made a first team start as well and the club probably din't make the most of Phil Jevons either (or Mcleod really). There was also a lad Poppleton who I always liked, played across midfield and looked a big talent too me, very comfortable on the ball.

Having Walter in charge meant we really wasted that promising set of players.

....so I’ve still got a few who I can’t ’house’ to a specific area:

Anthony Gordon.
Alan Harper.
Billy Wright.
Eddie Youds.
Neil Moore.

Used to work win Anthony Gordons mum about 10 years ago.
Big family, mostly from Bootle/County Road area

...Poppleton played in lower leagues, and I recall Mick O’Brien playing a few games for Torquay. Carl Regan played for Barnsley.

Bit of research off Tyias' wiki
'He attended the same school as his Wigan Athletic teammates Lee Nicholls and Jack Phillips '

So checked Lee Nicholls' wiki -born in Huyton
Jack Phillips ' He linked up with manager John Coleman, who was his former Primary School teacher at St Aloysius in Liverpool. '
St Aloysius, i think is down Roby/Huyton way

So i', guessing Tyias is from them ends
The Allies is on Twig Lane. More Huyton than Roby.

Chris Long was from Huyton.

....goes to my barber in Knotty Ash so that makes sense, but he made no first team appearances. He was a proper goalscorer at youth level but never made the leap when many thought he would.

Perhaps another thread, Everton academy players who never made a first team appearance but played 100 games in the lower leagues.
