Football is such a global game but I think we‘ve come to take this for granted over the years. They end up playing footy in Liverpool 4, but I think it’s fascinating to see images of the places our players were born and raised.

...I think it’s fascinating to see where ‘Street football’ might still be a major pastime. Many players have genuine rags to riches stories, it often shows in their hunger to play, particularly in the South American and African countries.

When I was working and living in Africa, watching kids playing footie in their bare feet on bonehard, grassless pitches was actually quite inspiring.
Their enthusiasm for the game was infectious.
