Plenty of competition for places, (couldn't fit Vic or Vaughan in) and quite a few players that can play in a variety of positions. The matches on the training pitch should be interesting to compare formations and styles.

Some people are saying that we still have a paper thin squad - when we are in situations like the BATE game, where we had 9 potential first teamers that were unavailable, then yes it's true, but when all fit and available I agree with Tim Cahill's comments the other day - this is the strongest squad he's been part of.

We have also got a few youngsters coming through (Baxter, Wallace, Coleman, Garbutt, Peterlin, Mustafi etc) and with the possibility in the near future of having to register a 25 man squad with eight home grown players, then I would be fairly happy with what we've got. Even better if we sign a creative central midfielder in January!

I think with all fit and available Moyes will still have Johnny in there, and definitely Neville. I think Rodwell will be used sparingly to continue his development - not first choice centre mid in Moyes' mind yet.
