When Did The Rot Set In?

Lets see who comes in for him. I will have a private £50 bet with you absolutely no current top club will go near him. Isn't just his constant giving the ball away. Cant cross to save his life failures. Its his lack of real hunger.
Honestly some Everton fans views of this fraud amaze me.
I think he stays in the Prem if we go down. Whoever buys him plays him centrally, albeit probably a lot less playing time than he currently gets.

I mean you'd think a professional footballer can kick a ball with his favoured foot in a good enough way after a 10+ year career, but apparently only wingers cross ever and no one else.

If you really want an extreme example - Messi and Ronaldo, both famously not wingers, cross the ball quite well. So can Benzema, also not a winger.

In fact, Sigurdsson could cross quite well despite not being a winger. Weird how that be, almost as if it's a technique issue and not a position issue lol
Thats quite a short sighted and narrow minded way of looking at things!
It all depends on what that certain players skill sets are.
Iwobi's are his hard work, dribbling, ability to get out of tight spaces, and taking a gamble when it comes to making a pass!

Sigurdsson couldn't run past a man to save his life, is that something he should of learned in his 10+year career or just something he wasen't strong at?

So is "he can't cross cuz he's no winger" ironically lol

Interesting point this, could be something in it too but its too hard to think anything bad about Kendall, since he will always be our greatest. Same with Sir Philip Carter, cant have anything but respect for him, even though he was one of those who set up the Premier League and then the club he was part of stood still
A case in point, sentimentality over reality. That is a real problem for the club and fans, hence where we are today unfortunately.

Ok if i re word it better for you.

Iwobi shouldn't be put in the situation to be one of our main crosser's of the ball as he isn't great at crossing.
His attributes and skill set are better utilised in the middle, were he performs far better!
He should be able to kick a ball consistently, which he can't.

In the middle or out wide it doesn't matter - he's got a great engine but is a below average footballer.

Thatcherism, the permissive society, advent of rock and roll?
From an Everton perspective, what was the moment when the tide turned and things started going backwards?
For me,the pivotal moment was the first home game in Martinez’s second season when we were walloped at home by Chelsea. Everything seemed rosy up to that point. We entered the season on a wave of optimism after t performing so well the previous season . Then bang! Teams sussed us out, watching us pass, pass, pass in our own half.
Since then it’s been one way to the grave.

He had to go then, that was a bad period but don't forget it wasn't all bad under Smith, plenty of classic games in a short period of time, Sunderland on boxing day, Anfield, several 4 0 home wins too, but that cup game was bad and the allocation that day was massive.

🤣🤣🤣 written like a true kenwright disciple. Are they some of the good times he was telling us about? 4-0 wins over Sunderland.

Jesus wept you’re easily pleased.

Sunderland boxing day was 5 0, but yeah easily pleased, I'll be easily pleased now if we stay up!!

Harvey is the obvious turning point, and he was a really poor manager (sorry Colin) - but it was more like a regression to the mean. HK worked miracles in spite of the board, not because they enabled him in any way.

The timing of it was brutal, though - in quiet times you could wear a manager like Harvey without too much damage. But we basically sleepwalked into the biggest upheaval in football structure for 100 years with Harvey, then HK II, at the helm.

Koeman is in the same category of catastrophe. Like Martinez is an historically poor Everton manager, but his appointment was at least reasonable at the time. Not a ridiculous choice. But Moshiri pursuing Koeman as a flag carrier for a new Everton era, like he was some sort of young Alex Ferguson, was just baffling and a massive red flag in hindsight.

The best you get and will ever get out of Iwobi is when he basically instantly releases the ball, he receives the ball on the turn ( so basically a single touch ) and plays a pass forward in that same movement.
The second he has to think of where to go/ what his next move is, is a second too long.

Thinking is the biggest Detriment to his game...

Who'd of ever thought 'Professional Football' in the 21st century doesn't require a football brain, but you see it too often nowadays.
