What is truly wrong with the club?

Whats the problem at the club?

  • Mind set

  • The squad

  • Certain bad eggs in the squad

  • Management choices

  • The board

  • Cheese on toast in the canteen

  • All of the above

currently, Two dodgy full backs pulling the centre backs out of position and requiring cover from DMs
therefore no creativity
Coleman's injury and more recently Baines' injury put the kibosh on many many things

I listened to Joey Barton this morning, I know I know, but he said Walsh was just an avid supporter of Leicester really and watched home and away matches, his choice of players comes from opponents of those games watched, he has no football credentials. I want him gone personally.

Our game form is down to a terrible back 4 and CDM set up meaning there is no confidence from our forward players, they are all worried about leaving us open and therefore dont want to push on knowing that we will concede like the schoolboy defending for West Broms forst goal, simply not acceptable.

Wouldn’t say it was down to one thing in particular, the lack of finances over the years has obviously held the club back and now were trying to catch up.

Martinez’s success in his first season was influenced by the defensive unit Moyes left behind. Martinez added flair and a new attacking dimension to the side and it worked, the more influence Martinez had over the side though the worse it got, his lack of focus of the defensive part of the game, fitness and set pieces was naive and it caught up with us during his second season. His team became to open and ‘fluid’ and we became far too easy to play against.

Koeman came in and brought back the defensive solidarity, but did nothing more than you’d expect. He finished 7th (what you’d probably expect of us) & picked up points were you’d expect at home.

The recruitment of players hasn’t been great and we’ve failed to strengthen in key areas when it’s been necessary (Coleman, Jagielka & Baines were all part of Moyes back 4 in his final season; they’re all still probably part of our strongest back 4, Not signing a goalkeeper last season and a forward this season), which has led to the squad being weak in key arrears and looking unbalanced.

This season we’ve signed a fair few first team players, think we’ve used 36 this season which is the joint most in our history, these players will obviously take time to settle and it can’t be easy to whilst our forms poor and were replacing managers every 3 months.

The loss of Lukaku (and the lack of a replacement) has had a big impact, look at Liverpool and Spurs when they sold Suarez and Bale, both spent the money on a couple of signings rather than a direct replacement and both clubs seemed to go backwards the season after whilst the new players settled.

We’re in transition at the moment and probably won’t see the best of this Everton side until next season.

There is no plan.

We need a plan.

If I were in charge (and who wouldn't want that?) I'd say:

How do we want to play? Recruit someone who also believes in that style, ideally a board of Evertonians for whom this is the dream job to be director of football. They will be in overall charge of the club. This will give consistency to the long term approach of the club.

Who coaches in that style? The DoF recruit the coach based on the criteria of a proven ability to coach the style of football we are promoting.

Which of our players can play in that style? Coach alerts the DoF to his opinions on squad and the player needs he has to meet the targets of the board.

Which of the youth team can play in that style? Coach assesses the youth squad. Part of the job description for the coach will be to regularly integrate young players.

Recruit to fill the gaps in order of priority.

Sell those who can't fit in with that style.

Whole club is in transition. Usmanov is the last puzzle. When it falls to its place things start to make sense again :D

This is where I am sitting at the moment, there is no clear direction from Walsh down... in the public or not, everything is so messed up from that position down it shows there is no plan.

Fantastic question. For me it starts at the top.
We have an owner/non owner who has 49.9% of the club, then you have a Chairman with his mates who have 50.1%. So for a start, who attually owns the club? Then you have the question of who makes the decision at the club.

We then have RE that is simple league one at the best not up to the job at all.

That then passes down to who picks and buys the players? Walsh or the manager, which leads to having no striker since the summer, 25 number 10s and 1 left back.

Then you have a clueless manager who plays all out defence no matter who we play.

Finally players who don’t seem to have a clue what’s going on and not gelling.

To fix it

Moshiri needs to buy the club
Kenwright needs to go
RE needs to go
Walsh needs to go
SA needs to go

Then maybe just maybe we see an improvement

The club is a car crash from week to week -headlines for the wrong reasons. I don,t know about others but this 20 years plus of us being in a football desert with not a cup to show for it has worn me down.

Hanging on by my fingernails hoping that when Bill goes he will take the curse with him and we can start to enjoy Saturday afternoons and nights.

Any chance we can hire the Ex SAS team from Ch4 Who Dares Wins to run the fitness sessions every day at Finch Farm. I,d pay to watch in person at the training ground then the garbage we get at the weekend.
