He asked for thoughts and that is my only thought.Great thread to rattle out the virtue signallers from the woodwork, chatting as if you caused the war or have even ignored the terrible suffering if it just by asking a tangential question. Bravo!
What if Hitler had been well regarded as an artist and stuck to that though. Should we blame ww2 on some random art critic who affected his self esteem? Could that same art critic be blamed for our title winning team if the late 30s not going on to create a lasting dominance?
Too many butterflies wings flapping about here to really speculate with any conviction.
Like it or not, that new stadium at the docks is down to USM investment.
We'd be able to boo mykolenko without feeling guilty.

More money but certainly less well managed and terrible direction, compared with how it "appears" now. Thanks Chris. It's very easy for people to just ignore but instead derail a thread with brain rot virtue signalling.
The stadium happened because of Usmanov, I was interested to see what could have happened in the long term, as he was more wealthy than Abramovic.
Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, we were already screwed before that - the previous Summer we could only spend £1.7m on Townsend and Gray.

Our (the club's) money - between the corrupt vast acquisition of state wealth probably through menaces in Russia, or the cold dead shark eyes of US capitalism ... what a choice.
I'd rather all the clubs be amateur at this stage, fan owned and tickets cost a couple if quid for upkeep. Well bored of the modern product.

Call it virtue signaling if you like.
But its the only thought I have.
I dont tend to look back and think what if, thats no way to live, we are human, we make mistakes. Look forward not back.
We might be one place higher in the league, unbelievably unlucky (once again)
I didn't read anything controversial into it.Thanks Dave I agree. Not sure why I'm getting grief over this thread. I thought it was an interesting discussion.
Basically we`d have had even more cash to waste on bang average players on mega contracts. Putin probably did us a favour.Interested to hear what everyone's thoughts are if it didn't happen.
Our sponsorship income would have been massive, we wouldn't have had the points deductions. Probably one of the biggest stadium sponsorship deals in the world.
Would we have just kept on buying over priced players with the soviet money? Or would have Kenwrights death unleashed something more ambitious?
Very interested to hear people's thoughts.
