What it means to me?

Seeing the rs in thier glory days in the 70's as my first game:blink:,they beat leeds back in the 70's felt nothing, then me mum taking me to see a proper team a few weeks later, watching awestruck as we got hammered by the man united but there was that feeling that i'd just fallen in love with something.

Watching Gordon Lee's team and hoping for something better, then seeing Howard toughing out the bad,bad days of the early 80's,seeing the team morph from being not much more than a glorified pub team into a team that played some of the best football i've ever seen

Nev's save at spurs, the electric fence at chelsea, getting home at 5 in the morning from ipswich after the coach broke down knowing i had work in 2 hours,it didnt matter becuase we'd won

So many things for me make me a blue, even this summers frustration over transfers makes it just a little harder to say balls to it and never go to another game again

Its a funny old club this grand old girl of ours

Browsing through the forum pages, I stumbled across this litlle thread. With all the new members who have joined GOT since this thread was created, I thought it would be interesting to bump it, to hear the stories of all fellow Evertonians.(y)

Everton are everything to me,
when everton are playing the world stops.
when everton lose, are things are not goin well i feel as if my world is caving in.
when everton win, or i watch a goal at goodison there is not a better feelin in this world.
Z cars makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
I cried after the semi final penalties of 2009
the first thing i do everyday before i get up is check teletext, its also the last thing i do every nite.
constantly chcking net and GOT for news and updates.
Match days are better than christmas eve ( i already have wolves trip booked cant wait).
being from ireland, i have suffered yrs of abuse at the hands of gloating man u and liverpool fans but i dont care.
Most from here support the so called 'big 4' but i wouldn have it any other way, everton chose me i didn choose, i dont no what it was about them, i cant explain it just felt rite.
i guess all u on here understand that and non evertonians that dont well as the saying goes dont matter

Anyoen who hasn't read the latest Evertonian Mag. They asked this to a fan here was his answer.

WHEN EVERTON ARE ON THE UP,I'M ON THE UP,THEN THEY'RE DOWN,EVERYTHING ELSE IN LIFE SEEMS TO BE DOWN. IT CAN GET TO A POINT WHERE EVERTON ARE A PART OF YOUR INNER SELF. IT'S A LIFETIMES EFFORT OF WEALTH,PAIN,ANXIETY AND SUFFERING AND OFTEN YOU'LL GET LITTLE BACK. YOU CAN LOSE YOUR HOME,YOUR FAMILY,YOUR MARRIAGE, BUT YOU'LL NEVER LOSE EVERTON. THOSE PAINFUL AND HEARTBREAKING MOMENTS MAKE THOSE SPECIAL OCCASIONS OH SO SWEETER. IT'S INDESRCIBABLE WHAT EVERTON FC MEANS TO ME. I'M EXTREMELY PROUB TO BE CHOSEN AS AN EVERTONIAN AND WILL BE UNTIL THE DAY I DIE!.

I don't know what other people feel but I totally agree with that. Sorry for getting soppy and all that but I know that even with no signings and all the crap that's happening during the season Everton will get you 1 result or performance that will make you sit back and feel so proud of them.

Agreed .

Thing is , I dunno if this is right or what , but Everton have been my life .

I'm split up , relationships wise , and me kids live miles away - hundreds of miles away , so they are factors . Though truth be told , I went wel before I met her , while I was with her , and me boy , despite talking like them , is a tattooed -up blue nose ..

Thus , after me arl Nanna and Barbara , and me Nephews / Neices , many of whom accompany me to the match , its what I do .

I go to the ground about three times a week not even going the match . I live local , like but its no less true for that .

So yeah , it means quite a bit .

I went through a hell hole during 2004/2005. But there at the end of every week - was Everton.

When you thought everything was lost when life really couldn't get any worse. There was Everton.

And they did this - as per what we Evertonians always face. The odds.

Frankly If it was choice between Everton ceasing to exist tomorrow and a kidney... the kidney would be gone tomorrow!

Quite simply my life revolves around everton, outsiders notice it more than I do. You can't turn anywhere in my house without seeing something Everton related. My son lives and breathes it too. Quite simply that club means everything to me, friends come and go but Everton will always remain. I am part of one huge and privileged family of blues! NSNO

Thats one market Bill hasnt looked into yet, 24/7.

Sort it out Bob!

Never felt any need to analyse why or what it means - just am and means more than words can really express, like Grandad, Dad and son - and pretty happy about it :)

But I do know we are Chosen.

Well... Everton are everything to me.
My dad is also an Evertonian, and while I was watching a game with him (mind - season 01/02, just about Pre-Moyes) and I asked, not being so aware of English football, "Who are the blue team? They look awesome!" to which he replied "The best team in England for me" with a smile... "They" went on to draw the game, but i was hooked (even chosen). Ever since then everything I think about in football is related to Everton, or the Bulgarian People's Club - Levski Sofia (which i'm not following as close as Everton in the past 3 years due to the fact that Bulgarian football is a joke, but still love them).
Everything else that could be said about it is already said within this thread, and one sentence sums it up (*Thanks Matt) :

One word. EVERYTHING.
