Loved Hospice, but then they got happy on Burst Apart so i gave up.

Ha, I know what you mean - Although it shows just how bleak 'Hospice' is when an album like 'Burst Apart' is considered happy

I think 'Familiars' is a step back towards the Hospice sound though - Definately worth re-introducing yourself

Hospice is the best record I've heard this century. It is so thematically complex that I get a slightly different impression almost every time I listen to it. I never tire of it.

Do you think he's talking to his long-time partner or one of his patients?

I listened to it again earlier and I'm still not sure - I believe his self imposed exile before the albums release was due to events that were illustrated on the album but who knows??

I wanted to love it, and I really like the lyrics - but he could be screaming his shopping list for all its worth - like early converge, all blastbeats and no melody

I want it to be his partner. That's the way I look at it. What a record, though. Often, the best art is so uplifting because it destroys you so.
