It's interesting how a few people on here seem to hate it. I love Kid A but it's probably not even in my top 5 Radiohead albums, if that makes any sense.
I was talking to a friend a while ago though, about how Radiohead could release an album of fart noises and people would still rave over it. I suppose whether or not people did that with Kid A merits discussion, but I personally think it's fantastic. And that's my own opinion -- Hail to the Thief was my first Radiohead album and I got into them by myself, and listened to all their stuff by myself, without any kind of outside influence telling me what was good or what wasn't. And I came to my own conclusion that Kid A was a dense but rewarding album with a few glimmers of genius ("The National Anthem" has been my ringtone for about 4 years), and at the time it was a bold step for the band.
Excellent points all around, especially the bolded part. The weird thing for me is my favorite parts of the album are "Everything In It's Right Place" and "How To Disappear Completely". I doubt you will ever hear either of those songs played in public EVER, but they make the album for me.
