I've only listened to this once or twice through but I've really enjoyed it so far.
One of my albums of the year, if only because I've not really heard anything else quite like it. It's bloody weird. Bubblegum electro goth is the best description I've thought of so far!
It took awhile for me to come around, but he's a self made musician, plugging away in his bedroom ala Liam Howlett, and his evolution to a more 'motown' sound is ace.
I remember you saying how you had a hard-on for bedroom musicians. He's a talented guy though and he's starting to get some serious exposure at the moment so good on him.
I weary of Radiohead's constant taking the piss....but I have to say I LOVE Kid A. There's something magical about this record for me. I didn't think I'd like it...but I did. Still blows my mind when I listen to it. Juxtaposed to OK Computer, it's jarring. Taken on it's own, it's genius.
It's interesting how a few people on here seem to hate it. I love Kid A but it's probably not even in my top 5 Radiohead albums, if that makes any sense.
I was talking to a friend a while ago though, about how Radiohead could release an album of fart noises and people would still rave over it. I suppose whether or not people did that with Kid A merits discussion, but I personally think it's fantastic. And that's my own opinion -- Hail to the Thief was my first Radiohead album and I got into them by myself, and listened to all their stuff by myself, without any kind of outside influence telling me what was good or what wasn't. And I came to my own conclusion that Kid A was a dense but rewarding album with a few glimmers of genius ("The National Anthem" has been my ringtone for about 4 years), and at the time it was a bold step for the band.
