We're in the money

Maybe. I guess the point is though that very few clubs can fund transfers organically through the profit they make. It's always done through a combination of sugar daddy opulence/debt/player sales.

It would be interesting to see a comparable table showing profit of various clubs around the world. The latest figures from Deloitte showed that the league as a whole generated £185m in profit, but spent £675m across both transfer windows. That's a whole lotta money being spent that isn't being generated by revenues.

Sorry , and all , but why are having to borrow dough , in a age , when for the last few years the Sky cash has broke all records , an the only major signing in 2 years , was basically paid for by faddy and aj ??? And , after getting to an F.A. Cup Final , with three home sell - out's en route .
Where's the fukn wonga ???

Couldnt have put that better myself. The piss is being seriously taken out of us lot :dodgy:

State they're in Two remarkable seasons for David Moyes' team, finishing fifth twice in succession, and a significantly improved financial picture, put fresh doubt on the need for Everton to move to the new stadium being controversially planned at Kirkby. The club ensured that players' wages did not gobble up the booming increase in TV money, and Everton turned over £76m, a £25m increase. Kirkby, which many fans oppose, is projected optimistically to be worth only another £6m annually, and even within the club, some may be quietly relieved if the government ultimately refuses permission for the scheme.

Quite. No point looking at the evidence before you.

So, with the data provided by Reidy we have a profit league table looking like this for last season.

1 Arsenal 36.7
2 WBA 11.3
3 Fulham 3.2
4 Blackburn 3
5 Spurs 3
6 Everton 0.03
7 Hull -2
8 Sunderland -4.9
9 Stoke -5.6
10 Villa -7.6
11 Boro -8.3
12 Bolton -8.4
13 Wigan -11.2
14 Pompey -17
15 West Ham -22
16 Man City -32.6
17 Toon -34
18 Man Utd -44.8
19 Chelsea -84.5
20 Liverpool n/a

So we're not making any profit, we already have high debt levels, are in the middle of the worst credit crunch in donkey's years and we don't have a sugar daddy that enables us to blow money ala Chelsea and Man City.

So where the feck do people here expect us to get money from?

although we needs signings , imo every loan the club takes out digs our hole a little deeper , makes our financies even tighter and makes us look like less of a decent proposition to be bought out.(if you balanced the books today , is there any club still left to buy ?)

we need the signings , we have no money , so we get a loan and pay interest on that loan which guzzles up more income.
what happens next summer ? same again ?

its a terminal situation that will only get worse each season unless by some sort of miracle we have 2 successful seasons in the cl within the next 3 seasons or even win the prem.

i'm all for keeping the belt tightened... but you do have to speculate to accumulate.

without the whole leeds thing being brought up, there are few businesses that have succeeded without taking risks at some point.

hmmm... but it is quite sobering looking at those figures.

uefa have to distribute the cash better has to be part of the answer. the difference in prize money in the european competitions is, well, quite ghastly.

Yeah, they've spent time revamping the UEFA Cup to try and recapture the fans' attention and to try and make it feel more important to clubs. A better way to do that, as you say, is to increase the prize money.

imo getting loans secured to assets and future income season after season is not a good way to 'speculate to accumulate'.
its short term fix with long term consequences and dependant on success.its a repetitive cycle trap , its doing a leeds if ever there was an example.

the sad truth is we either need a rich new owner or have to become a selling club.
buy players low , sell them high , buy more players low , sell them high etc etc.
