This thread is so funny

Went off topic after the 5th post

Ahh.....can someone actually tell me what's going on? I don't have a clue.

Most of the tv money goes to the players in wages, which statistically is a good strategy as research shows that money spent in that way is more likely to yield success than large transfer fees.

The fact that we're having to borrow (again) to fund transfer fees should come as no surprise to anyone that is remotely familiar with our annual reports, but it does underline the paucity of our financial predicament. Using debt to fund developments is only really viable if you at some point assume that it will be repaid by the large increase in revenue generated by said investment. We're increasing our debts to stand still at the moment.

I heard last year that our debt was £ 25 - 33 million . Then ,factor in two lots of loads wonga from Murdoch , plus , as I say , outgoing fees , how much are these fukas on ???
I knew we were broke . I just didn't realise , after the most successful 5 year period - on and off pitch - in a generation , that it was SO BAD .
Time we started seeing some balance sheets here , people .
This is hundereds of milions of pounds , by the way . Not fukn chump change .

I don't have the exact numbers to hand and am too lazy to go look for them (as MG says - they're on the OS). Typically though clubs spend anywhere from 50-75% of their turnover on wages. The average PL footballer earns around about £1.5 million per year. Doesn't take much to clear £30 million on players, add in the coaching staff and so on. All adds up. In a good year we may make a few million in profit, nowhere near enough to buy any kind of player, let alone blow £20m on several.
