We have been crap and flirting with relegation for a few years now, yet just 13 games into the season some people are moaning because we are not in the European places.
To provide some perspective - we have more points at this stage (13 games in) than we've had since we had that miraculous start to the season under Carlo Ancelotti.
Now don't get me wrong, we are still very poor and there's reasons to expect that we should be able to turn things around much faster, BUT there IS progress.
That's not an opinion, it's a fact.

I'm not convinced anyone else would make a better fist of EFC right now. We're a team that still starts Keane and Mykolenko. Hardly made for expansive football

Another summer transfer window and we'll see where we are then. Can Moyes make us world beaters with a squad with the quality of, say, Villa? I'm not convinced. Can he get us there? Yes

I think we're probably arguing the same side of the same coin at the end of the day.

Didn't know he'd said that after the game. It may be true that we're not at their level yet, and Its definitely true that we had an off day. Don't know how I feel about him saying that though and seems a departure from the message of before which was more about believing that we are good enough to get results against anyone if we turn up.

We definitely did not turn up yesterday though. As to whether that blame lies on how Moyes set us up or on how certain individuals performed is up for debate. Of course Moyes is also responsible for motivating those individuals to perform...

I have been critical of how he's set us up before (against Leeds for example) but this one is on the players imo. Tim, Keane, Tarky main culprits for me

No it's something Moyes has done all his career - it's why I didnt want him back, nor advocate him long term.

Mentality and belief is massive in the game - he puts his own ego and self PR ahead of every club. He downplays expectations at every turn - he rehashed knife to a gunfight continually and it breeds a mentality of club captain Phil Neville "be thankful of what you have midtable is great for a club like Everton"

He knew what new owners and fans needed to hear last season and in the summer talking up Europe, but as soon as his feet is under the table it's normal service resumed.

Me? I wouldn't sack him now. I wouldn't if we lose the next 5.

But I'll raise a drink when he leaves - hopefully the day after the final home game.

we just are way of were US fans want to be. we DONT KNOW WHAT TFG expect or “think” etc before people start with it

it’s a huge turnover off and on the field

it’s not going to happen overnight

now clearly there is massive issues
squad recruitment, players needed
players who should be playing players
who need throwing to the lions.

all that is moyes/DOF/who ever does all that side of it.

the negativity really has been lunacy in my opinion.

I think Potter simply just picked West Ham.

Using Potter as an example - I routinely discouraged his appointment when he seemed continually linked, like so;

Potter spent £100m to take Brighton from 40 points under Chris Hughton to 41 in his first season and 41 again in his second, finishing 16th.

His last season at Brighton, he earned 3 more than Dyche did last season.

Never really understood the hype.

In conclusion, if Brighton fans were causing him to snap, the Park End would have him in tears before the season was out.

I also said on here despite a the footty hipster plaudits - Brighton fans and Brighton wouldn't take him back.

Moyes talked about difficulties in recruiting players because of what we have been and no European football.

At the moment we risk having those issues next summer as well .

Progress needs to happen year on year otherwise we become stagnant and regress, like we have many times in the past.

A monotonous existence.
