Watford Blame Everton

Watford have sacked manager Marco Silva, blaming Everton's approach in November as the "catalyst for this decision".

Hornets chiefs, who have seen seven bosses come and go in five years before Silva was appointed in May 2017, blame their latest sacking on Everton.

A Watford statement said they were "convinced the appointment of Silva" last summer "was the right one".

And, without "the unwarranted approach" they would have "continued to prosper under his leadership".

The statement added: "This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly.

"The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford has been jeopardised."

Their board almost pride themselves on being ruthless;

SEVEN WATFORD MANAGERS UNDER THE POZZO REGIME
Gianfranco Zola (July 2012 - Dec 2013) Named as Sean Dyche’s replacement within days of the Pozzo takeover. Took the Hornets to the Championship play-off final, losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace after extra-time. Resigned the following December with them in 13th place.

Giuseppe Sannino (Dec 2013 - Aug 2014) Lead Watford on club-record run of six home league victories without conceding a goal. Won four of his first five matches in ensuing season, but resigned amid reports of dressing-room unrest.

Oscar Garcia (Sept 2014) Admitted to hospital with chest pains shortly after getting the job. The Spaniard stepped down two weeks later after four games in charge.

Billy McKinlay (Sept - Oct 2014) Took over from Garcia but lasted just eight days and two matches

Slavisa Jokanovic (Oct 2014 - June 2015) Fourth coach in five weeks. Guided the Hornets back to the Premier League with one match to spare, but failed to agree a new contract and was out

Quique Sanchez Flores (June 2015 - May 2016) Given his marching orders despite an impressive Prem campaign in which the Hornets finished 13th and reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup

Walter Mazzarri (May 2016 - May 2017) Signed a three-year deal, but parts company with the Hornets after just one term in charge

With all that in mind, why would they expect any manager to show loyalty?

He had a half decent start - nothing more. There was every chance the wheels would come off at some point, a big reason why most Evertonians had reservations about him.

Cost to get Silva, was 15m, now free.

Pay Allardyce off, 8m tops.

We could swop Allardyce for Siva and save 7m to get the choice Moshiri wanted all along.

If I was Moshiri I'd do it tomorrow.

The football would improve under Silva to want it is now, I'd bet my left bollock on it.

There is a picking order in PL. Watford defied it and here is the result. It was on the cards but we will never know what kind of manager he would have been to us. Ill bet they are looking back and think....fooog why didnt we take that 15m
