Won the lot with Rangers numerous times. Came to us with not much to spend, given the run around by the owners but got on with the job. Kept us in the league, which with the squad he had and no money was an achievement in itself. Rip.

He signed some great players when he started, but sadly Johnson did not have the money to pay them and they were soon sold, John Collins and Olivier Dacourt are two of them I can remember. Soon sold as we could not afford them. he came on a promise of spending and growth and kept us afloat during some dire periods.

Was it aa 3-0 loss at Middlesboro in the cup, that was his final game? I liked Walter, a man of integrity.

He didn’t do particularly well for us, with some reasons that were not to do with him, but he is deservedly a great above the border.

I think in fairness, he got had off by Peter Johnson tbh, like everyone else.
