I agree with a lot you said there. If the renewed contract is a sign of him being considered as first choice left back for the next 3 years then I'm rather disappointed. If he becomes back up, ultimately to be sold on, then it makes sense.I hope we are trying to preserve his value and hope to move on within the three years - while we look to build on him and he becomes Gary Naismith style defensive back up - which he is adequate for, he can nail down a tricky right winger to be fair to him and sit on them.
One of the big issues for me and i haven't seen it talked about much, is how much he devalues other players around him - take Grealish last year i dont thin we really saw the best of him and his link up play, becuase of the lack of quality Myko has on the ball in advanced positions. I can remember many times Grealish hesitating to give hi the ball due this.
For me Myko is incredibly lucky Jarrad Branthwaite came along he makes him look twice the player.
Playing alongside Grealish is an odd one though. Imo Grealish doesn't rate him at all. So many times Grealish got the ball and saw Myko as an option and thought "not giving it to you". It was reminiscent of schoolyard footie when no one passes to the fat kid with glasses and 2 left feet.
