2024/25 Vitalii Mykolenko

This is sensible. Just keeping him as a squad player is much cheaper than buying a squad player in
Would be a good rotation option anyway - we shouldn't rely on 1 player per position again next year. Young was brought in as a left back replacement/option and hasn't been played there in ages. The few games he did - Mykolenko came back better/fresher at least. Maybe it'll do him good so he's at least average going forward (which we've seen him be already).

I am not a fan. I think we are desperate at FB. To be fair Young has played well but should not have been given the opportunity to play well !!

We need two FBs that are going to start for the next 5 years along with some young talent. Position needs overhauled

Why can't we offer him a new deal and sign a new LB?

….but we’ll never progress if our ‘business’ model includes extending contracts for poor footballers.

Looking at the bigger picture, there appears no strategy at play here given the mess the contract situation is at the club.

"Looking at the bigger picture, there apprars no strategy"

-- After seeing half a dozen posters highlight the precise strategy and benefits.

As ive stated, you have no concept of money.

Mate you can't have it both ways, criticising letting so many contracts run out like this season, then criticising it when we do extend contracts.

So far Thelwell has moved on players most if ya thought we had zero chance of re Irving s thing for. Both Godfrey and Maupay we recouped good fees for considering. We recouped solid fees for academy lads in previous years we jet walk for nothing, Canon, Simms, Dobbin.

I know you really don't like Thelwell, but the current stance you take robs any genuine concern you may have of validity as it's a blanket criticism on every level

Indeed, its been posted that:

A: Wages are low and while Mykolenko is having a poor season, hes been effective since signing in a more defensive setup.

B: We need 2 left backs and his wages are low enough to carry him as a squad player.

C: An extension spreads his outstanding book value over the length of a new deal -- which benefits our PSR.

I struggle to see how extending a 25 year old wanted by Napoli/Conte last summer shows any "lack of a strategy".

Its like the hole is too big that hes digging for Australia now.
