Tbf to him. Gray is not the type of winger who plays for an overlap. He would wasting his time making those runs. If it was pienaar in front, I think you would see him get forward.

Doesn't look like he can offer enough going forward but he gets a big asterisk next that because of Gray. Absolutely no point Mykolenko getting forward when he's relying on some composure/play from Gray.

Looked a lot better tonight because he wasn't up against the outright pace of Robinson trying with 34 year old legs, also Willian and Mitrovic soon started to try to swarm Coleman so a lot of their efforts weren't in his area - and when they were he stood up well, so again that pushed focus to their left side instead. We've been treated at LB with Baines and Digne and their sharp passing over distance.

One of his best games today. He's a bit stuffed attacking as Gray is so easy to read for defenders (receive ball, check back and pass back to defender/try and go infield and cross with right foot).

This may sound silly but I think with Patterson back in the team we will naturally have more width on the right hand side and it’s probably good idea having a more sturdy left back who is defensively good
