They should sell him to the highest bidder but refuse to sell him to LFC, due to the tapping-up. The craven refusal of the FA to ban Liverpool from transfers has exacerbated the problem for Southampton: if they are allowed to sign VVD, it gives the green light to blatant tapping-up (as opposed to the covert tapping-up which is common), and the FA should stop pretending.

The only thing left is who opens the bidding. I think Liverpool will need someone to trigger this transfer for them. But I would put my mortgage on him ending up there. Southampton having a new manager doesn't help this situation.
