US calls Iran's Bluff

US Navy officials report the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and its battle group steamed through the Strait of Hormuz into the Persian Gulf Sunday without incident. It's the first US carrier to pass through the Strait since the Iranians threatened to attack the aircraft carrier Stennis three weeks ago, if it attempted to return to the Persian Gulf. Pentagon and US military officials have made it clear that Iranian threats would not deter the US Navy from operating in international waters in the Strait and the Gulf.

Navy officials say the Lincoln battle group is in the Gulf on routine and regularly-scheduled exercises.
A second battle group led by the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson is in the Northern Arabian Sea conducting flight missions over Afghanistan.

What they omitted was the US group was joined by a British and French warships, and the newest type-45 destroyer on its way also - HMS Daring.

Wonder why the US media didn't report this? :huh:

good. usa said over a week ao that if iran would try to close that bay of hormuz, they would get it, hard.

i hope iran is so crazy that they give an excuse for usa and israel to smash them totally.

Trouble for Mahmoud is that the Lincoln carries more air firepower than the entirety of the Iranian Air Force. Did the Iranians forget that the Stennis (another Nimitz class carrier) just left? In case, the Iranians need reminding, we've got 10 of them and they're all bored.

Good to see the French and Brits chipping in on the flotilla. You guys have great names for your warships - Daring, Dauntless (we used that one for a WWII plane), Victorious, Vengeance, Tireless. Those are brilliant names.

Britain have got those fighter planes too...except there's no aircraft carrier for them to go on ...

...meanwhile another load of pensioners die from hyperthermia; kids in welfare dependent families go short; and hospital wards are closed down.

USS Carl Vinson is already in the gulf too. So thats two carriers.

The type 45 destroyer is British version of an Aegis with Sampson.

Except it's brand new.

I guess its a show of force in case the Iranians did decide to try something.

Just wait Dave. if Iran did manage to illegally cut off trade in the Strait of Homuz.

You'll soon wonder what the **** happened to oil / gas prices. So all those pensioners and kids really will be in the ****e.

I'm more interested to know why we aren't currently bumming the North Koreans into next century, its practically the Nazi regime part 2, and yet here we are, leaving them be.

Because the Chinese are doing some major diplomacy there as its their back yard.

All the other gulf states are para about Iran's ambitions.
