Player Valuation: £70m
Each year at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we observe a Two Minute Silence. Armistice Day on 11 November marks the end of the First World War and is a day to remember and honour those who have paid the price for our freedom

At 11am the site will close for 2 minutes.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them."

We take it seriously here in Australia...at
11am on the 11th...and as far as i can see, always have - every year, not just for the last few years.
When I worked for QR (Queensland Rail ) the site had 8 workshops each half the size Goodison and at 10.30 EVERYBODY made their way to an assembly point for the last post at the proper minute. Then back to work.
Not a hint of faux or otherwise public holier than thouness two weeks before where even the cookie monster on the One Show has to have a poppy in case some one, somewhere, might be offended...I think the 'Glorious Dead' who lie in the Flanders Fields...and other places are demeaned by this OTT stuff, not honoured.
Even if it is, as they will no doubt bleat, for the right reasons.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead.
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

Saw they projected poppies in the sails of the opera house, looked beautiful

Announcement in the office to observe the silence. Everyone falls silent.

Then this bint answers her phone and says 'oh yes hi, no, everyone is just observing the 2 minute silence'.

I hate her anyway. Now I really hate her.

You get them everywhere. One here, playing pool FFS in the activity room - then walks out, sits at desk and starts talking. Proper fuming and burning two holes in the side of his head.
