Simpsons marathon while on Hols. Not really seen any eps after season 12 - 15 so its crazy to see how bad its gotten, seeing them rewrite their own history and also some gems hidden in the millions of episodes.

Why do they have to mess around all the time, scrooge having been abused as a kid, van helsing being a woman , nun who questions god existence, cant just about put up with them Dracula wasn't all bad.
War of the worlds was absolutely a waste of time and Dr Who is rubbish these days sad as I liked it growing up.
BBC is in need of a shake up the quality is going downwards and its insistence on some sort of moral crusade being in everything it does is ridiculous.

They do it because they're more interested in their moral crusade then they're in creating good tv. They know that big numbers will always tune in to watch something like Dracula or a Christmas Carol so they play it safe with them rather try and create something bold and orignal.

The BBC is run by incompetent, play-it-safe, cowards who have no interest in creating bold and orignal shows written by talented and creative people. They'd much rather hire talentless, bland, hack writers (who don't have a shred of originality or creativity in them) to produce an endless cycle of mediocre redos that are bursting at the seems with lazy, predictable, badly done and frankly insulting moral lessons for us the plebs to "learn from".

I didn't think that Dracula on the Beeb was half bad at all, I don't mind it not staying true totally to the original books or films when it's a tale that's been done to death.

See how the 2nd episode goes tonight.

Back in the day I watched the UK House of Cards.
Then I watched the US version...mainly to see what they did with it - and was very disappointed that it didn't end the same as the UK. Then, for various reasons, I left it.
Now I've re-done S 1 to 3 plus 4 and 5...and its still good.
Starting S 6 now

Was a good first season when it was on Netflix but lost track when it switched to Amazon.

S1; 10 out of 10 - a minor classic...especially the ending
S2; 8 out of ten
S3; sorry only 6.

Well done to the BBC for disrespecting and destroying yet another beloved classic in Dracula. If you'd never read either Dracula or A Christmas Carol and your first exposure to them was the latest BBC adaptations (aka disasters) you'd hate them for life. Cultural vandalism.

I rather enjoyed Dracula tbh.

I like it when they put a different slant on things.

You may just be outside it's target audience. It's a kids adventure show and has often been guilty of throwing up some rubbish throughout all of its incarnations.

I'm glad you enjoyed it mate. I just wasn't for me. I don't mind slight changes, but I felt this was a radical change from the orignal book and not for the better imo. There's a reason that these books are considered classics and these films/tv shows will be forgotten about in no time.

No adaption is ever 100% correct but some of the stuff in the new Dracula and Christmas Carol is just so out of place and unrecognisable from the source material that I don't feel it's right to even call them their original names!

Thought the Dracula one was ok, as it went on at least was bit of a twist to the story, but dont really get the need to put child abuse and trying to bonk mrs crachit in a Christmas Carol, really helps the story at all , took the magic away from it.
War of the worlds was a disaster from start to finish.

Keep seeing great reviews about it but it’s from our American friends so unsure about trusting the reviews.

I personally havent seen anything offensive,though Im not religious so maybe Im not the right person to answer that
