TV Series

Watchmen is about Superheroes. It was a book that contemporised, satirised and deconstructed the Superhero comic genre.

I don't doubt the horror of Tulsa, but to lay the foundation of it there is completely misplaced to the actual material. It's not about White Supremacy at all. It takes Rorshach - the most complex and refreshing hero and misconstrues him completely. Its been bastardised by... just looking at this guy Lindelof and what a bunch of duds this guy is responsible for. Cowboys and Aliens? World War z? Tomorrowland!? What were they thinking!

And before you say “Have you even read the graphic novel?” Yes, yes I have.

*shrug* I enjoyed it.

Isn’t based on any existing graphic novel so not arsed as it doesn’t taint the original material for me.

Watchmen the film is about heroes (there’s only one superhero in reality so let’s not say the whole story is about them) and said film is based on the graphic novel for the mostt part.

The series is based on nothing at all so there’s no pressure for it to be based on heroes (although it still kinda is).

*Double shrug* Its called Watchmen, maybe they should have changed the title.

So do you dislike The Hobbit trilogy then? Because hardly any of that exists in the novel.

I wouldn't watch the hobbit trilogy again it was garbo.

I'm all up for a re-imagining of anything and I'll sit through anything if it's quality. I feel like Watchmen has been hijacked and squeezed into something it's not.

Why wouldn't he make an actual proper retelling of Tulsa? I'd much rather watch that than what they've offered up.

The new BBC adaptation of a Christmas Carol is nothing short of cultural vandalism. Did we really need this monstrosity? With its "modern, fresh spin" and "gritty langue" and reimagined scenes all done for its own sake and the vanity of a substandard writer and a bunch of self-important and self-indulgent hanks at the BBC? Absolute garbage. Grade A trash.

Err I mean I agree with the bottom part but I feel like the massacre was just a means to give some history to the storyline. I don’t think the way it was portrayed is even how/what happened from reading.

The black Wall Street stuff apparently isn’t even taught in US schools so I’d imagine there’s already documentaries about it. Can’t really make a series over something that happened on like a weekend can you.

I watched it purely to view Stephen Graham our resident scouser.
Never the same though when he tries another accent.
Yes, disappointed.

I don't know anything about it really - but if that isn't even taught in schools then fair play to them for for highlighting it. I just think it's the wrong vehicle to be playing it out in and deserves it's own limited series or movie.

Yeh have a dig, it’s pretty baffling really.

But anyway, circles. Agree to disagree. You hate it, I and most others loved it;)

I enjoyed it mate.

There`s been that many different slants put on it over the years, it`s just one of many.

Guy Pierce is very good as Scrooge, really captures the character very well, Stephen Graham as Marley, not so good.

I think it`s a case of each to their own with it.

Crap was like a Peaky Crimbo

Just personally think it still fit within the Watchmen universe, linked quite nicely with the film in parts, strong cast, strong plot which I couldn’t guess whatsoever & hit some very prominent issues right now as well.

I liked it, but didn't feel it segued in with the Watchmen universe, and there were bits I just couldn't stand. Started great, had enormous potential, but ended up being a 6/10 show for me

Fair enough mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It just wasn't for me, I'm a stickler for accuracy. Personally I just thought that it was one of worst things I've ever seen!
