TV Series

Third season of true detective is ace, people moaning about it being slow need to sort out their attention spans imo.

Can’t wait for the finale, seems pretty clear who the bad guy is at this point but seems that this season isn’t really about the missing girl but more about how the case effected those around it. I imagine the final episode will focus on Hays filling in the blanks in his memory... reckon he went full darkside vigilante or something along those lines which will somehow also link up with his wifes death.

How many episodes left ? I’m waiting to binge it

Mad Men, Twin Peaks, The Wire, Gilmore Girls.

Think I'd be more than happy to watch The Wire again if I thought I could find the time. Gave up on Mad Men around season 2 as it just wasn't doing it for me. Twin Peaks, original or re-make? Its kind of on my "to watch list" but something else always seems to get priority.

BSG also (first watched 2008, 2nd-watched 2017...if anything it improved), and Twin Peaks season 3 at some point which i'm very curious about second time round.

Didn't watch BSG until a year or so ago and had to binge watch it, it was great having all the series ready to go at. Wouldn't watch it again though, maybe in another 9 years time I might.

With regard to twin peaks new season... save yourself the headache and just watch this scene as it was by far the best moment of the series... having no context as to what it’s about doesn’t really matter either, it’s just a visual feast. Still laughing at the thought of something this “arty” being shown on prime time tv to thousands of bemused Americans.

that whole episode 8 gives me goosepimps, gorgeous synth musik later on too. it's close to Kubrick's 2001 for audiovisual feastery.

gotta light?

the original is brilliant for the first season and a half and then again at the final (season 2) episode. it got sillycheesy for about 10 eps in the 2nd-half of season 2 once the central mystery was resolved.

season 3 is totally marmite...but i reckon if you enjoy slowburning arty weirdness with high-end sound design and no coherent plot then you might like it...deffo a case of style over substance but the style is right up my street so i loved it.

and how Kyle McLachlan didn't win an Emmy...astonishingly-skilled performance.

It's excellent. Almost as good as season one.
