TV Series

Watched the first one, but TiVo-ing the rest as the match took priority last night. I agree with you - there was no attempt to demonise any of the people or their beliefs. I would go as far as to say that the majority were all quite likeable, which will make for an interesting watch as it progresses. I'm expecting some to have second thoughts...

I think we are already seeing that with the doctor being frustrated in doing her job and the lad whose followed his brother . I also think that the doctors child will end up being a key storyline.

People went there because it was something that believed in , however abhorrent and frankly absurd that seems to us . A lot of them however didn't find what they were looking for and the it seems undeniable that the place has been truly brutal & horrific , for me with the punchlines I'm expecting the series is telling the story in what seems a wholly appropriate manner .

Yea, thought it was really good.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with humanising the reasons why people join. Should be fairly obvious by now that ISIS use the vunerable to create the acts of terror.
You are on as serious watch list buddy

Oi, spoiler alert!

Balanced, well acted, no punches pulled and very uncomfortable viewing at times.

I watched the doc that followed last nights episode - My Son the Jihadi.

Heart breaking stuff.

Totally agree, it's strange the way they're trying to balance the inhumane (going to fight and suppprt a vile terrorist movement) with the humane (the fella paying for the women so they're not raped and the doctor refusing to remove the organs). Like you said though, it's quite uncomfortable viewing at times

I've seen that "my son the Jihadi" a while back, that was absolutely crazy
