TV Series

Went back to WestWorld put on E3, lasted 15 mins, scrubbed it off my magic box

I believe it was mooted as going for 4 or 5 season, if it doesn't pull finger It'll get dropped well before.

It has to set the scene mate.

The impression i got so far after 3 is that it is showing you the loops of the androids. So when they alter or change them you are seeing it first hand. So somewhere down the line i could imagine they will start to blur the lines and you won't know when an andriod is acting out of character, that is the impression i got anyway.

just like any show, the first season is slower, the second onwards they up the stakes. Like Fringe for arguments sake, good storyline but it just got bigger and better once it established itself and was renewed.

her indoors almost gave up during eps 3 & 4: they were quite weak admittedly, the ones with the prisoners and the one with Starbuck over-agonising her choice to pass Zak.

But from ep5 to ep10 it's been all in! The one with Leoben was strong stuff. Tonight we'll probably cane ep11-13 then that's season 1 already done.

Westworld needs to advance the plot a little more rapidly. Each episode just seems to be showing the androids getting a bit more sentient & sapient, which is fine, but gives the feeling that you're just watching the same episode over and over.

I'm enjoying it but something seismic needs to happen soon.

I do agree with that, would be nice for something more significant to happen now, although not seen episode 4.

but just to pick up 'feels like i am watching the same episode'. Granted yes that is generally a bad thing, but is it not a clever idea for the start of it? Because essentially the park is that, the same things happening over and over again on a daily basis, so as any changes will be subtle at the start, it is left for the viewer to pick up on it?

They probably haven't done that and it is probably just slow, but a great idea none the less if he series is going to really blow up one day down the line.

Yeah, my GF was on the fence early in season 1, but quickly became addicted and, of course, ended up in floods of tears by the time we watched the last episode. Unbelievable TV

I really enjoyed the first two episodes. Visually great, storyline intriguing. It was a risk going down the whole android becoming aware road, as it has been done so many times. But it really does seem they are rehashing the same idea with the hosts every episode. I will understand if there is some bigger pay offs in the latter half of the series.

But it is a huge risk. They've Greenlit 5 seasons so I hope they are not relying on people coming back for season 2. It's getting to the point where you could probably skip two episodes early on and still not feel like you have missed anything that important. And for a show like Westworld that's a problem.

It is the little things. Like if you didn't know all about Delores so far, i would imagine all the stuff with her will be significant down the line.

but
the androids recalling previous builds = past memories
is fantastic idea i think. It explains straight away how you can have motive and justification on how the show can progress in the future, why would they turn on humans? There you go, already answered.

For me, i'm enjoying the world more than anything. Same as GOT, i enjoy losing myself into the world of it for an hour, really get into it, but my negative is that outside the park it isn't as fun tbh. Hopkins character aside i don't particulary have any draw to any of the humans, but do to the androids, which is odd but probably intentional.

Also conspiracy theory, like the british fella, maybe they purposely cast him as they want the viewer to secretly side with the androids in the show over the humans and best way to start that mindset off by turning the viewers off from the humans cast in it?

Yeah I agree, the subtle hints in the first episode were cleverly crafted. Since then it's become a tad more obvious.

Yeah, the humans aren't very warming at all. The only one who has been given any credible and emotional back story is Bernard, the other seem quite cold. Even most of the guests as well. Like you said, whether it's intentional or not I don't know but they probably did that for a reason.

so far i have thought bernard is a bit of a needless tit. clearly going against other people and is clearly going to factor in the whole main story as being the catalyst. Just think it that is too in your face if that makes sense? they can subtly do others and then in walks bernard for his scene with sirens and flashing lights saying 'causing the problems here'. Like the fact that
He is educating delores. I mean how more obvious can you get? A series about androids becoming alive and there you have 3 episodes in someone secretly teaching one of them. The closest you get to that otherwise was hopkins having a drink with one that they don't use anymore.

well i think so anyway lol

Yeah I have to wonder of his importance, as he has been given the most time other than those in the park.

Episode 3 Spoiler ahead:

There was also the guy that Hopkins mentions in episode 3, who apparently died when working on perfecting the hosts or something like that

i think Bernard has been tasked by the management to look further into the minds of the androids and see how 'human' they can get, and sees Dolores as the least threatening. He doesn't realise the danger he's causing

Yeah i think that is a major thing now. My guess is the new code that has corrupted is part of his code from all those years ago to make them alive as they put it. Perhaps Hopkins is dying and wants to set them all free before he goes maybe? Grown tired of being god and wants these androids he has built and programmed over the years to be free, hence why arnold is mentioned by them, to honour his memory
