TV Series

Finished off the Lincoln Lawyer series - a good watch - a new series later to come out @Swartzy on Netflix watched the last 3 on the bounce last night just had to find out the ending .... the series are far better than the movie - start at series one 3 series up to now all good from a great author the same guy who wrote Harry Bosch {thatch a great series too} - Michael Connolly - top author ....

There is also another Connelly series on Amazon Prime, Joe.

Ballard.

She has featured in recent novels as Harry has got to old to be plausible as as a working detective.

Harry apears in Ballard, unlike in Lincoln Lawyer.

Which is strange because Harry is Mickey Haller’s half brother and Harry dies private work fir him after keaving LAPD.

I think Bosch and Lincoln Lawyer must be made by different studios and there are copyright issues.

Thought it was poor, tbh.

I loved the Detectorists and expected a lot from this but Pearce Quigly couldn't carry it off and the peripheral characters (like that irritating fool next door) were low quality.

About the only one who got out with credibility was Michael Palin who was very good.
Agree, typical overblown and overhyped BBC sh1t3 like Doctor Who, some critics hailing this as one of the funniest things ever and a 'British classic' is absurd, don't think I laughed once . It's not terrible and it passed the time but Paul Kay sadly underused as he is the one with greatest comic potential.

Mike Strutter is one of the most hilarious character's ever produced.

Small Prophets: Palin was good. That's about it.

By the way, I always thought Quigley's character in The Detectorists was one of the weakest in the series. And he defo wasnt up to carrying this show off as the lead.

His sidekick girl was rubbish and the characters like the DIY shop security guard and the nosy feller next door were some of the worst and badly acted characters I've seen in a long time.

It'll get an underserving second series, but Mackenzie Crook should avoid doing it. He's much better than this.

Yes, absolutely terrible they were. Paul Kay's cameo in a Gervais series on Netflix as a Therapist was also hilarious, he should have been utilized a lot more in this, it was all a bit twee and bland.

The BBC establishment got behind this show and Mackenzie Crook was all over the place promoting it.

It was just dire though. It's a massive problem when the lead character is essentially unfunny and unsympathetic. Maybe if Crook had taken up that role it'd have worked.

The other major flaw (besides peripheral and lead characters being terrible!) was the creatures in the bottles. It wasn't that it was unbelievable it was that it was unwatchable. They were irritants rather than wondrous.

The whole show needs binning. It's unsalvageable for me.

It just shows how many people accept utter tat when they capitulate to the BBC propaganda.
