Gen V not quite as good imho, would suggest you watch at least S1 of the boys just for familiarity with the lore.
Yes and no. A major plot point in Gen V leads into Season 4 but you can catch up on it easy just watching something like the below and skipping to when he talks about Gen V. Or I can tell you in a spoilers bit.

Yeah I’ve watched all the seasons of the boys but not gen v. I’m a busy man and I need to make sure any series that I watch does not interrupt my participation in fridge threads.

I'm going to watch it anyway, I find it amusing that the best series from the Starwars universe are the ones that aren't Jedi related to any major degree.
