Heading over to New Orleans and flying back from New York in May, two mates will already have a car so we'll be driving the 20 hours or so across about 16 days.

Any places we must go to for food, drinking spots or just generally things for a good time (American Lisbon ?) please advise.

Not enough time to really experience it i know, but work is what it is.

Cheers.

Which way you plan to go?

NOLA - Atlanta - I-95 and north? Or more west of that?

I recommend the Great Smoky Mountains if you're into that kind of thing. Or Shenandoah if you're that far west in Virginia.

Definitely hit up D.C. and check out the Smithsonian/National Mall. I'm an old man now, so don't have much good in the way of the American Lisbon.

Bloody hell, be a bit dull visiting a DIY store in America.

As it stands mate i've no idea, the two lads will probably have the most input as they'll be getting there early April. All opinions welcome as i want to make the most of it.

New Orleans is great, just walk round and soak up the atmosphere, go to Coops restaurant and have a few pints on Frenchman st. If you like blues music go to Clarksdale for a night at Ground Zero and Red's lounge, Memphis is good for a couple of nights, we went to The Stax museum and the Civil rights museum, and drink in The Flying Saucer. I want to go back to Nashville, downtown is bright neon and plenty of live music, we missed out on midtown other than the Soulshine pizza factory, there seemed to be plenty of bars. I've had 3 holidays in the south, going to the King Biscuit blues festival, the people are really friendly.
And as RaleighBlue said go to D.C,and have a day in Batimore, get the water taxi to Fells Point.
