.....you lot are spoiling my perception. I got into this a few years ago after successfully backing Cadel Evans to win @ 25-1. I'm obviously naïve because I thought recent years were drug free and Team Sky were making a stand. The way Froom went away from riders up that mountain on Sunday was incredible and I hope he's not cheating.

I did the London to Brighton bike ride a couples of years back and was staggered by the number of people shooting up on the side of the road, and that was a Charity ride ffs.

Football is different as it's a technical skill rather than a purely physical. Same with Tiger Woods.

But by and large you're right - and wrong. The reason people analyse biking so much is that there are too many instances of massive increases in endurance and strength in a short space of time. Armstrong was blatant about it and the fact he got away with it for so long hurt the sport badly.

I like Froome as a guy, and I really hope he isn't doping, but to expect people not to question the climb on Mont Ventoux is insane.

Athletics gets exactly the same treatment as cycling does, but the difference is that when someone is caught doping it's usually a shock; whereas it's the norm with cycling.

The truth is that in any endurance discipline the legacy of the competitors will not be secured for at least a decade after the win, when you can then be reasonably confident that sampling techniques would have detected doping.

Football, golf and tennis have all improved massively as a result of the increased physical capabilities of its athletes over the past decade. Why do you think guys like Edgar Davids took nandrolone? There are millions at stake for getting the best players at their best twice a week. There are millions at stake for tennis players who can recover after another 4-5 hour game. There are millions at stake for golfers who can hit the ball further. Drugs are seldom taken to increase endurance on the day of competition, they're usually taken to improve recovery in between training sessions, yet we sit and marvel at how Milan seemed able to get their players playing late into their 30's. Magic innit?

To take tennis as an example, it was barely a decade ago that Sampras was throwing up on court due to the exhertion, yet now Nadal and Djokovic regularly play 5 setter after 5 setter without any sign of physical malaise.

Likewise with football. For all their incredible skill, neither Messi or Ronaldo miss many games in a season do they? Again, it wasn't that long ago that managers would regularly cry about the number of games. They don't say it any more at all.

Cycling gets the treatment it does because it actually bothers trying to catch people. Look at the Fuentes case. Of all the athletes, footballers, tennis players, boxers and others that were implicated, it was only the cyclists that were named. A huge Spanish doping ring busted at a time of Spanish sporting dominance gets barely a peep in the media.

Australia had their big bust earlier this year, but even then it was mainly brushed under the carpet. I mean I would lay money that Froome will be tested more in this three week period than your average Premier League footballer will be all year.

Did you hear about that? No, neither did most people.

You condone drug taking and cheating in sport sir.

As a cyclist leave them alone you monsters.

There is nothing like riding along side pros. Congrats to this portuguese cyclist.
