Always thought they had “top six protection” but now I’m doubting it

Top 6 is nonsense, at the start of Prem era it was the big 5 - United, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Everton.

For me it’s about total trophies, Villa are 6th were 7th, Everton 8th and Newcastle 9th - and that seems right to me - I’d bundle those 4 clubs together in terms of size

We’re Everton bigger than Spurs pre war titles- yes. Are Everton bigger than Spurs currently and in balance over both clubs history - no chance. A couple of flashes in the pan in the 30’s and 80’s then 1 FA cup in 40 years. I see the clubs equally and I would imagine most neutral fans would also.

We won the league twice in the 60s too mate.

What a mess of a club they currently are.

We are a shambles.

On the upside we will get 46 games in our season ticket so I might even get one. Knowing ENIC they will put the price up accordingly.
