I was trying to get on a lift in a multi-story car park in Sheffield when Gardner was playing there towards the end of his career and Gardner was furiously pushing the close door button to try and prevent me from getting in. Absolute bulb, we ended up awkwardly staring each other out all the way up in the lift! Plus, he was parked on the same floor as me and drove a white Suzuki Vitara which was a bit of a surprise.
