Amazing how he went from looking like a top prospect to a championship at best player.

All the manager changes mustn't have helped his development.
In retrospect it's hard to say exactly how he was supposed to be a top player though. I mean even when he was a prospect what archetype of a top midfielder was he supposed to fill?

Wants to play so turned down offer of contract on a squad player role, good for him. Leaves us even more thread bare as Dyche likes 3 man midfield. Unless the likes Gomes or Alli are stepping up if not more money to shell out to replace Davies.

I think a big thing was Barkley leaving as well. Put more pressure on him to be the next best thing from the academy.

Even Jonjoe Kenny looked like a decent prospect at one point.

In hindsight the only reason Tom was good in his first year is he was fearless. Give an average athlete a great mentality and they can be a pretty good player. Once he had the fear of Goodison in him, it was over. He lost the one thing that made him stand out. I hope we never return to the toxic atmosphere we had post-72-point Martinez. The relegation battles might have sobered the fans up a bit. We needed a wake up call.

Booed ON to the pitch as a sub as well ffs.

7 goals and 8 assists in ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE effing appearances for a centre midfielder.

Sod the nice lad and living his dream bollocks I was going to post. Off you absolutely trot see ya later.
278 games, 15 goals, 14 assists. £105m.

It's not all about simple stats.
