I zoomed in on the picture so it was just tom and the keeper in shot. Look at the space.

This is the best picture to form an opinion from.

What we do know with 100% certainty, if De Gea was 50 yards away and not in goal, Tom may have decided to shoot at the open goal.

Because DeGea had the cheek to be standing in the middle of the goal, it unnerved our Tom and he (correctly) decided that the 6 yards of space on De Geas right and the 3 yards of space on De Geas left, was 20 yards short of making it an inviting opportunity.

Hence why he rolled the ball across to an offside Mina

Don't blame Tom, don't blame Mina, blame De Gea for standing in Tom's way and not giving him an open goal

I agree that we have historically but I don't think that yesterday was another.

i would have taken the result before ko but the fact remains that when we are presented with opportunities we blink first or bottle it. We had one player that didn’t back himself enough to shoot , the same player also didn’t have the awareness to see the other was offside , while the other didn’t have the ability to stay onside … while our “ opportunities “ fall to players like that, we will always be the bridesmaid and never the bride
The fact that you dont accept that Mina wouldn't have the composure and movement to stay onside and score says it all. No blame can be placed on either Davies or Mina. Davies saw a chance to get the ball in the net a lot less problematically but Mina just strayed offside as he isn;t a specialist.

Now who is being ridiculous? We had a 2 on 1 vs the goal keeper and no blame can be placed on anyone ? How is that possible when we didn’t score and the gk didn’t have to make a save. Please enlighten me .

You're talking about ability. That's not related to bottle. We've seen teams fold under pressure in our recent past rather than trying to pressure the opposition. None of that happened yesterday. The team played well, won a good point and was unlucky it wasn't more. Honestly, you're just looking for an excuse to moan.

it wasn’t down to bad luck , bad luck would have been davies taking the hot and the keeper pullin off a great save. Not someone being to scared to shoot and the other forgetting the offside rule. That’s bottling it, choking etc being to scared to take on responsibility and take golden opportunities when they present themselves

They got into space, completed the pass and put the ball in the net. It was offside and a mistake. Offsides happen every game to every team. All teams have a "what if" moment. Poor players make poor decisions. Doesn't mean they bottled anything.

The OTT comments on this thread are ridiculous.

That looks nearly the same as the situation when taking a penalty apart from the angle and the goalkeeper having to stand on his line. I would put my money on a PL goalkeeper saving a shot in this situation. The decision to pass was correct and if Yerry Mina didn't have such huge feet he might have scored.

I think the issue was that this chance simply fell to the wrong player. I'm not going to criticise him too much. He passed to a player who he felt was in an even better position. Mina should have checked his run. Davies, in all likelihood, would have made a hero out of De Gea at best. At worst, he would have hit the people in the disabled section and then really would have deserved criticism.

The fact Yerry Mina is getting blamed is quite laughable. Tom’s confidence is wrecked, he made a call which in the final 5 minutes of the game seemed to be the safest, proved to be wrong. A confident player hits that across the keeper
The lad must have no confidence in himself anymore. I just saw the disallowed goal and couldn't believe how much time and space he had to take the chance. What happened to the player who ran from the halfway line, turning Man City players inside out before slotting home with ease. If he's not going to take a shot with that much time and space he'll never take one.

Davies is crap and needs to be got rid of, unless Rafael really believes he can make him into a PL player. His goalscoring ability is abysmal. At least he could have forced a save from the goalie. Fortunately he will fade into the background I hope.
