2021/22 Tom Davies

Tom Davies will have been spoken to by the manager about his performance, the goal chance will be just one incident in the review. The manager will have an opinion on it and then they will move forward.
I don't see it as a big deal in the players career. He was brought in as a shield in front of the back four with some licence to move forward but I think it would be a far bigger issue if Utd had scored a goal as a result of a mistake he made.
We don't know where Tom Davies fits in the managers plan going forward because at present Allan and Doucoure are doing so well it is impossible to break up the parthership. The same uncertainty is there for Andre Gomes.

I never get worried about opinions on GOT about players and specially about players after a game... it is usually a series of knee jerk reactions and commonly certain posters having a dig that they don't like and repeatedly comment in a negative way.

If you were to use use GOT opinion as a basis for picking a team last Saturday you would probably not include Pickford, Keane,Gray, Rondon and Townsend.
All of these have been spoken of negatively, some have been excellent in recent times, but if their form disappears then the negativity will return.
Really well put.

If you add the comments from preseason, you could add in Allan and Doucoure. Also DCL would never have got the chance to become the player he has become.

Was really disappointed with his choice to pass when I think every other midfielder on the pitch would have pulled the trigger but hopefully it can be a turning point for him. Time will tell with him, but I think every supporter would rather have a local player through the academy over a bought player provided they are up to it. I think Tom has all the ability but has lost some belief somewhere along the way. Might be the churn of managers or the desire to splurge crazy money on players who in truth often aren’t much better, but fingers crossed he can turn this to his advantage. If he doesn’t, I expect he will be sold in the summer.
It would be great to see some local lads break through, but there have been so many who showed signs of great potential only to not kick on after their initial break through. There was so much hype about Barkley being world class and a lot of people kept talking him up even when he was already putting in a lot of poor performances.
Davies came into the first team playing with such confidence and it's been very disappointing to see him somewhat go backwards and become only a backup at best.

Just popped on to make a wee comment on the disallowed goal.
Wouldn't it have been something if Tom Davies had controlled that beautiful through ball first time. Then looked to his left. Feigned a pass to his left.
Sent De Gea ,
all the flailing utd defenders, Mina, and all the supporters behind the goal , all the wrong way.
Then he as cool as a cucumber slots the ball into the open goal.
Naw folks. That's just dreaming. That's something I think that Roy of the Rovers once did.
Now if only that chance had fallen to the ( so far) wonderful Andros Townsend. If only.

Ps.......on a serious note. I thought that var was not going to be as strict on these offside goals this season. Give the benefit to the attacking side.
Apparently not. Still the same old var. Disallowing a goal for a boot being offside.
Wonder if that goal would have been ruled offside if the young 36 year old pup playing for utd had scored it against us?

On another point about var. Sorry for rambling. But why wasn't the hacking down of Richarlson , the other week not punished? Did var really not see that.
Var is just not fit for purpose. IMO.I

Rant almost over folks.
Keep supporting. At least now we seem to have a manager who knows what he is doing. And not those clowns that only needed millions ( 100s of milluons) to play drab rubbish football. And finish mid division. Benetiz I think will do ok for us. I hope. Who really knows.I

Absolute last point. For what it's worth. I actually like Tom Davies. He's a half decent squad player. He cost nothing. He's not paid as much as others that are just plain useless. And he can play I wee bit. He's ok.....IMO.
As a squad player. He's ok. Adios folks. Rant over.I
Up The Toffees.

It should be but many cant, that's the point i'm making.

But you take it to far and defend him to the hilt on everything.
Maybe i missed some who never but every ex pro i have see commenting on that chance said he has to take it himself.
If he misses he misses. Would have got a bit of stick but it would have blown over.
This thread has bumped and bumped because you dont get chances like that often in those games

Wow. Allan & Doucoure have been criticised on the odd occasions for poor performances like every single player that pulls on a shirt or any other shirt by their fans. It comes with the territory.

Mcllroy got plenty of stock from golf fans for his performance at the Ryder cup. Is he a always a bad player, obviously not.

I would say DCL has been a bit lucky at Everton for the club not replacing Lukaku with quality, meaning he’s been given 3 full seasons at the club to improve, which he has, Davies hasn’t or not to the same level. Had we bought well after lukaku. DCL may not be at the club now.

Davies is very lucky to still be getting games at Everton abs has had more chances than any other youngster in our 150yr history.
he’s played a 150 games in 5 years, and has had 10% of very good games. It’s amazing fans get stick for saying he’s not good enough. I think that’s been proven over the last 5yrs.

Disagree about Davies

As for a couple of your other points, I think the offside has to be really close for it to ruled in favour of the attacking side.

As for Var jumping in to overturn decisions, it’s never going to happen while all refs are mates. Nobody is going to doing something to make his mate in the middle look a complete fool.

Look at the 2 Milner challenges unpunished yesterday. Incredible
