Reckless tackle just because he doesn't make contact doesn't make it any less a penalty. 1-1

ermmm? isn't that like saying just because his shot was blocked when on target doesn't make it any less of a goal.

you can't avoid the contact and still get a foul, you either take the hit or avoid the contact and get on the end of the ball.

But if on trying to avoid the contact he hits the deck without diving, surely that makes it more of a penalty and the refs thinking he's in the penalty area trying to stay on his feet, only the reckless tackle stops him.

Oxford have been pretty good that 1st half, the swansea goal came from no were, the pen was a cert on 1st viewing, then you see the replay and see the little jump over the tackle made by the swansea player

all interpretation i suppose. Normally yes, but i think in this instance he just jumps wildly up in the air, just looks like a dive rather than trying to avoid contact. i think bartley's arm does catch him when he's in mid-air, but if he hadn't of dived that contact wouldn't have happened. It's a reckless tackle that was going to clear him out, so why did he dive out of the way?

well in my opinion, he was diving not trying to avoid contact, he could have just hurdled the challenge if he was trying to avoid it. At the other end grimes felt contact and dived down. It wasn't enough to contact to warrant a free-kick, so was rightly given as a dive.

At the end of the day, a yellow card isn't a big enough punishment for cheating.
