My eldest lad once had a Saturday league game abandoned, after the opposing coach called the ref a " cheating c**t ".

The game was eventually awarded to my lads team, which ultimately won them the league too, with the other team finishing runners up !!

Warrants a sending off of the coach per the laws of the game, frankly, but wouldn't have abandoned the game unless there were additional things happening. Accusing the referee of cheating or being corrupt are a no go zone.

That said, I think our referee friends in the PL are utterly corrupt.

The coach was a proper scum bag and had been on at the ref all game, that was very obviously the final straw.

If it’s warranted because the ref is acting like a grade A tit, then by all means, go for it.

But it has to be done subtly, and with a little bit of wit, finesse and intelligence.

And for the love of Christ, don’t shout it in his face over and over again like an uncouth brute!

Wait for the right moment to deliver your repartee. Nuance is a skilled art form.
