Blimey Barca about to sub on a 15 year-old

The most heralded youth player at La Masia at the moment - 15 y.o. Lamine Yamal from the Juvenil A team which was already a age category higher than anticipated (Already has been training on several occasions with the 1st team)

Xavi & club have tried to initially suppress the hype as he has changed agents to Mendes and cannot yet sign a professional contract until July

Now, three things clear. One, he is rumored to have already agreed to a 3 year deal with RM lurking and will put pen to paper July 1. Two, he will become the 2nd player to jump from Juvenil A to Senior team bypassing the B team- the last to do that was Messi. I say this because Xavi all but confirmed after match last night he will play for 1st team going forward. So he will feature in media coverage going forward. Three, he is an outstanding talent that is hard to compare with anyone. A superb left footed attacking winger with eye for goal and pass on top of dribbling instincts & fearlessness that are hard to believe for his age

Yes I’d heard of him before but was surprised he was given his debut already. Did look very good. Was giving him his debut part of the strategy to ward off RM? A bit like what the Gooners did with Nwaneri

That has been part of the speculation but Xavi shot that down saying his contract situation had nothing to do with involvement with 1st team dynamic. Hard to gauge considering he moved to a big agent in Mendes and his father has openly courted RM but player appears to be intent to continue & thrive at Barcelona

He’s born in Catalunya to a Moroccan father and mother from Equatorial Guinea - purportedly he is going to play for Morocco after having played for La Roja’s youth categories previously. Played at La Masia since age of 7, his hype has been talked about for several years now. Me, I tend to wait until they are 15 to really give them a serious look but even at 12 he was displaying skills & composure in the box you just rarely saw in footballers much older. It‘s a strange era in football with younger players exuding the confidence of veterans and even Xavi talked about this in previous press conferences

He‘s 1.8m in stature so could still grow and honestly I don’t know where his best position would be - perhaps either as a RW or right interior attacking midfielder. He really is special, hope he does not get injured or let the pressure get to him
