Can you choose not to watch it?

Or support it.

You and bushes are acting like your hipsters who shun modern footy.

lollollollol

Would love to if I didn’t have this really annoying affinity for Everton that I can’t shake off.

I hate the competition we play in though and the entire industry that has sprung up around it. The early rounds of the FA cup agaisnt non prem opposition are about as good as it gets in terms of sampling real football now. The rest is just a charade but sadly I can’t kick following Everton.

Yeah it’s good seeing the blues get the odd win and when the matchfixing dopers over the road get it wrong once or twice a season it’s decent for a laugh but almost all premier league games now are just complete rubbish. It’s either a bore fest between two top 6 teams, a top 6 team hammering a bottom 14 team, or two bottom 14 teams playing each other in a game that doesn’t matter unless they’re consigning each other to relegation.

The majority of those teams will never win anything in their existence again unless they receive a billionaire takeover (and even that door is being closed by FFP), whilst a handful of clubs will win everything. It’s not a competition, it’s just a rich elite hammering a load of dross.

You can cry that we’re not one of the rich elite but even if we were the equation doesn’t change for anyone with a brain cell that can look beyond ‘look we’re winning every week lads’. If we ever got ourselves into that position in the prem it would not because we’d somehow earned it through bringing through some youngsters and crafting a decent team under a promising manager. It would be because we went out and bought our way to it and effectively paid our membership to join the scab six.

Newcastle for example can’t win because if they do crack the top 4 consistently, as the only non sky six team to achieve that since Abramovich started the money train it would show the only way to do it and maintain it is to be backed by a gulf state. If they don’t make it then it just shows that even if you are backed by a gulf state non top 6 teams still won’t be allowed in. Either way it’s a sickening outcome for the premier league.

Why was the Europa league final on a Wednesday lol I didn't even realize it was on.

Glad to see Rangers lost though :)

This puzzles me.

As you know, it used to be played over two legs in midweek.

Then they changec it to a one off game, like the CL final, also played in midweek.

Then UEFA came up with a splendid idea….play the CL of a Saturday.

Their reasoning was that it is more fan friendly. Easier for the majority of fans re work commitments etc.

I think that is a good idea.

But why the heck do they not apply the same logic to the EL Final?

They shoukd play that on a Saturday as well.

Different era back then, clubs like Steaua, Red Star Belgrade, Dynamo Kiev, Hungarian, Austrian, Swedish clubs etc.... are cannon fodder now, but back then this clubs were powerhouses on their own.

Best Soviet, Yugoslav, Czechoslovak etc.... players didn't leave their countries as teenagers to play for money rich clubs, they played for their own clubs,

There was a rule here in ex-Yugoslavia that players couldn't leave abroad until 30 years old, so all those Modric, Rakitics, Mandzukic, Oblak, Dzeko and other great players from this area (from past generations) would play for our clubs, not in foreign lands, ditto for other countries

So club like Red Star that lose against Tottenham like 7-0 now, 30 years ago was made from Creme de la Creme of Yugoslav football and champion of Europe
1981 4 ties to the final:

Oulun Palloseuara (finnish team)
Aberdeen
CSKA Sofia
Bayern Munich

1978 4 ties to the final:

A Bye
Dynamo Dresden
Benfica
Borrussia Monchengladbach

I honestly wouldnt bother if I felt like that mate.

Its all background noise to me, since I was a wee boy the only thing that matters is watching football.

Nobody minded when we were the Mersey Millionaires, nobody minded when Moshiri came in and we won the Transfer windows.

I get it, people get disillusioned after 27 years of being a non entity, but you just have to hope our day will come again, as unlikely as that seems.

You watch Liverpool every week I’m pretty sure you can’t complain about the state of the football you watch.

Probably like a lot of others. Watched it in an empty hotel sports bar in Tunisia with only my daughter and wife for company. The waiters would wander down every now and then for a few minutes to watch and would talk to us then mention they supported Liverpool so that quickly ended any interaction. Games gone for the likes of Everton on a global scale. Don’t think they even knew we were Liverpool’s closest rivals when we told them who we supported and to go get us another drink

What you fail to grasp its not the fact we're crap its the fact we can never be allowed to build a dynasty of long term success that the likes of Utd, Liverpool, arsenal, Chelsea and now City are doing because the rules in place prevent that and the tipping scales will only keep going in the favour of the already established sides.

Back in the 80's we could keep a top quality team now we cant because FFP wouldn't allow us to pay 150k-200k to all our stars even if our private owner is happy to pay those wages therefore they leave and within 3-4 seasons you're back in midtable mediocrity (see Leicester).

Leicester couldn't afford to keep the likes of Salah and Mane and adding a world class £70 million CB and £65 million GK without breaking the rules but Liverpool can.

Its a sham you are being had off. Still watch Everton but dont buy into the nonsense that this is a competition it really isnt.

No, I don’t understand someone complaining football is rubbish these days and futile to watch but spends hours every week choosing to watch teams that cause it. Odd.

As I said, you don’t seem to understand the notion of support or rivalry. Hating the system but supporting your team/wishing the pest for your rival can occur simultaneously.

I hope they lose every game 20-0 but I still don’t watch them every week.

No you just comment on every single post of people who are commenting on them, in a thread you created to comment on football happening at the time.

So at one point this season you were arguing against any post in support of the manager of Everton, and also moaning about posts detracting Liverpool.
