Yes, the two "minor" European competitions have a whiff of authenticity about them. Great clubs who have been marginalised by the preposterous finances of the so-called "super clubs" battling it out for an unexpected and deeply desired continental trophy. Eintracht Frankfurt is a great historic club here in Germany. It's one of about 10 what I would call "huge" clubs here in Germany. But the ownership structure in German football means CL contention is restricted to Bayern. I'm delighted that a proper club has a big trophy tonight. Their fans have been magnificent - most notably in filling the Camp Nou on the night they buried the complacent, entitled, corrupt Barcelona in their own stadium. Delightful.What you’re seeing here is at least real emotion. One team devastated knowing they might never be here again. The other elated knowing they might never win it again.
Compare and contrast to most domestic English cup finals now where the loser just shrugs because they didn’t really want it anyway and they know they’ll be back next year and the winner isn’t that arsed either.
Whoever loses Madrid Liverpool will know they’ll be back within the next few seasons.
It’s not the same as what we’re seeing here.

For somebody who barely watched the PL, you certainly wanted us to sign a LOT of Premier League players.I enjoy watching EL & EC same way I like the Championship for its competitiveness.
Barely watch the PL or CL these days as they are sham competitions set up for the elite protected by UEFA and FFP/VAR.
@Saint Domingo
They also had a chance or two to score and missed, and Ramsey put in the least effort behind that pen though.
This season's two junior competitions were very authentic. The clubs - and fans - competing in the last four of these tournaments really wanted to win. It meant something.I enjoy watching EL & EC same way I like the Championship for its competitiveness.

I can assume by this post that you havent seen Ings, Wilson or Zaha play then?
Used to watch a lot of PL football until I finally woke up to the truth.
When people acknowledge reality they lose interest in watching Man City amd RS clock up 95 points every season and clubs like Brighton, Wolves and Palace head patted for finishing 10th making up the numbers but playing decent footie and winning a few unexpected games against the "big 6".
Yeah, there is a futility to it all.Used to watch a lot of PL football until I finally woke up to the truth.
