That final will always hurt but I've always said as much as I didnt rate Martinez he was a good cup manager and think he would have won us a pot if we had a favourable Semi draw rather than Man City or Utd.

Felt more confident with him in cup matches than Wee Davey despite Moist for me being a better all round manager.

What you’re seeing here is at least real emotion. One team devastated knowing they might never be here again. The other elated knowing they might never win it again.

Compare and contrast to most domestic English cup finals now where the loser just shrugs because they didn’t really want it anyway and they know they’ll be back next year and the winner isn’t that arsed either.

Whoever loses Madrid Liverpool will know they’ll be back within the next few seasons.

It’s not the same as what we’re seeing here.

Totally agree and similar with the championship play off semi last night, the top league competition and champions league is just the same sides on repeat generally
